A number of games that launched towards the tail end of 2021 didn't enjoy the best start to life. Battlefield 2042, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and GTA's Definitive Trilogy all had a number of issues that needed to be ironed out. However, none of them hold a candle to the problems eFootball suffered, and now an update regarding when its players can expect Master League to be implemented has refreshed the bad taste left in their mouths.As Konami continues to try and fix its free-to-play soccer sim, today it announced a number of changes and additions coming to the game in the future in what is effectively a new roadmap. The biggest reveal was that Master League won't be here until 2023. “Master League will be available as additional paid content during 2023,” one point from the series of tweets reads.Master League was one of the more popular modes in the Pro Evolution series before the eFootball rebrand. The reveal that it would be sticking around in eFootball, even though you'll need to pay for it, would have been welcomed by PES players who planned to continue on with the series. However, as has already been demonstrated by the replies to the tweet below, some of those who have tried to remain loyal to Konami are starting to lose faith.
“Growing up, PES was the game I played the most, now it's dead,” one reply reads. “Is this some kind of joke, you’re telling [me] it will be more than three full years of development before you release a Master League?” writes another. eFootball initially launched last September. That launch went so poorly that the full rollout was rescheduled for this past April, hence the arrival of subsequent modes being pushed back as well, resulting in Master League now being absent until next year.
Those who have stuck with eFootball are already upset enough as this news comes right in the middle of a four-day shutdown in preparation for the game's second season. Elsewhere in the thread, Konami reveals lobby matches in which players can create rooms and play matches between dream teams will be here after this summer, and cross-platform play between consoles and PC will be implemented before the end of the year.
