So, you've just defeated Starscourge Radahn and you want to equip his big bad Great Rune for yourself? Well, good luck with that. Elden Ring doesn't make anything easy. The Great Rune when you receive it is useless, to activate its full power you need to restore it at the Divine Tower of Caelid.

Getting to the tower is actually fairly simple - certainly easier than getting to the Limgrave Divine Tower. The only tough part about the journey is the murderous abominations that roam the rotting lands. Once you get to the tower though? That's where the really hard part starts.

How To Get To The Divine Tower Of Caelid

1 divine tower of caelid on the map

The Divine Tower of Caelid is in the northern region, called Greyroll's Dragonbarrow. Don't worry, you don't need to sneak past any dragons to get to the tower itself. Go to the Dragonbarrow West site of grace to start the journey. If you've not gotten here yet, just head from Limgrave into West Caelid and instead of following the main road down past the Caelim Runes site of grace, head north up the hills and to the east slightly. You should be able to see the Tower on the horizon.

2 dragon barrow west on the map

From the Dragonbarrow West site of grace, head north towards the Tower until you get right to the edge of a cliff. This is where the fun begins. You can't just mosey on into the Tower. Oh no. You've got to parkour your way up the sides. FromSoftware decided to have fun with that fancy new jump button. There are two big tree branches just below the ledge leading to the Tower. Drop down onto the one on the left and head to the left fork to get onto the side of the Tower.

Be careful, there are enemies littered across the ledges, so bringing a small weapon that won't get caught on the walls is advisable.

How To Climb The Divine Tower Of Caelid And Activate Radahn's Great Rune

Now you're on the Tower, head to the left and deal with the enemy guarding the ladder, then climb up it. Don't go up the second ladder. Go to the right, over the broken stone arch. It can be easier to ride Torrent due to his jumping abilities. Just be sure to keep looking at the arch and jumping over broken sections. Deal with another enemy and then climb the ladder it was guarding.

At the top of that ladder, head left. It may be tempting to explore and get the loot scattered along the edges, but you should leave this for once you've unlocked the sites of grace inside the Tower. Go over the arch, again watching for broken sections. Kill another enemy and go over another crumbling arch. Go up the ladder and to your left, you'll see a site of grace - rest at it to save your progress and ensure you never have to do that cursed climb again.

From here, just go to the right and up the stairs to a huge set of doors. You can also go to the right to descend into the lower levels of the tower. Down here you'll find an optional boss, but they're pretty tough, so get the Great Rune restored first to give you an edge in the fight. Open the doors and head into a chamber with a grand lift. Ride it to the top of the tower, head outside and up the last set of stairs until you see the fingers in front of you. As with the Limgrave Tower, you'll see a shimmering light between them. Interact with it and the Radahn's Great Rune will be restored.

How To Equip Radahn's Great Rune

General Radahn in Elden Ring

You've restored Radahn's Great Rune, but how do you equip and use it? Go to any site of grace and select the Great Runes menu. Enter this menu and equip Radahn's Great Rune. It raises maximum HP, FP, and Stamina, making it ideal for long sections of exploration.

Now that it's equipped, you still need to actually activate it. To do this, consume a Rune Arc. These increase your maximum health and activate whatever Great Rune you've got equipped for the remainder of your current life. Rune Arcs are quite rare, so they're best saved to give you an edge over certain bosses or in tough dungeons. You get them for repelling invaders and killing the hosts of worlds you invade, though, so maybe try out some PvP.
