Elden Ring, FromSoftware's latest dark fantasy epic, has many of the trappings found in the titles before it, with a significant focus being on player progression. Leveling up, learning new incantations, finding new weapons, and finding new sets of armor are some of the many ways you can make your character more robust in the game.
Like most FromSoftware games, fashion plays a substantial part in driving players to poke around the vast open world, searching for stylish - yet serviceable - sets of armor. With Elden Ring being the biggest game released by the acclaimed developer, many threads are sure to catch your eye.
10 Cleanrot Set
The Cleanrot Armor Set is one of the best armors in Elden Ring for the mid to mid-late game and rewards its wearer with excellent Immunity and Robustness. In addition to that, the Cleanrot Set also has more than decent Physical and Elemental Damage absorption, making it one of the best early-to-mid game sets.
Furthermore, another reason the Cleanrot Armor Set is amongst the best in the game is it's relatively easy to get, as all you have to do is set aside some time to farm Cleanrot Knights. While not the most exciting part of Elden Ring, it sure beats having to jump through hoops like some of the others on this list.
9 Crucible Tree Set
One of the best heavy armor sets in the game goes to the Crucible Tree Armor Set, which has superb Physical, Magical, and Elemental protection. While only useful for Strength builds, the Crucible Tree Set is too good to let limitations hold it down.
However, an excellent armor set such as the Crucible Tree one doesn't just fall into your lap. To receive this set, you will have to reach the Deeproot Depth and takedown the mini-boss Crucible Knight Siluria. This is a late-game region, and every enemy proves it by hitting harder than a freight train. So, don't expect to obtain this armor until much later in your play session.
8 Raging Wolf Set
Dialing things back a tad from the heavy Crucible Tree Set, the medium-weighted Raging Wolf Armor Set offers many great benefits for Dexterity builds. The Raging Wolf Set does a solid job of protecting its wearer from all types of damage and ailments for a lighter armor set. It also looks fantastic.
Much like the Crucible Tree Set, you won't be able to get your hands on the Raging Wolf Set until much later in the game. If you follow the Volcano Manor questline, this set can be yours after assisting Knight Bernahl with an invasion. If you were fortunate enough to play the Elden Ring Network Test last year, this is the "Bloody Wolf" set present in that build of the game.
7 Briar Set
Occasionally, after defeating a formidable foe, you will be able to purchase their armor from Enia at the Roundtable Hold, which is the case for the Briar Armor Set. The Briar Set is another fantastic medium-weighted armor set in Elden Ring that does an excellent job balancing its protections for Physical and Magical damage.
To get the Briar Armor Set, head to the northern region of the Atlus Plateau and enter The Shaded Castle. Here, you will find Elemer of the Briar within the depth of the castle. Defeat him, then head to the Roundtable Hold for the option to purchase the Briar Armor Set from Enia.
6 Beast Champion Set
As with most FromSoftware titles, some armor sets are obtainable by murdering the NPC wearing it, which is the case for one of the best heavy sets in the game: Beast Champion Armor Set. With the Beast Champion Set, you will have tremendous protection from Physical, Magical, and Elemental damage types and will also have excellent Poise.
Unfortunately, to get this set, you must slay Knight Bernahl (AKA Resucant Bernahl). Though, before you violently murder him in cold blood for his awesome armor, we suggest carrying out his questline first, as killing him off too early will end many questlines you may be following.
5 Raya Lucarian Soldier Set
While it won't blow you away aesthetically, the Raya Lucarian Soldier Armor Set is one of the most accessible early-game sets in Elden Ring and is worth mentioning here. This lightweight armor set offers pretty decent Elemental protection and Physical and Magical Defense.
Raya Lucaria Knights randomly drop the Raya Lucarian Soldier Set found at Liurnia of Lakes. These are low-level enemies, making them easy to farm and obtain their armor. Though you will likely replace it before you are even halfway through your journey, the Raya Lucarian Soldier Set does what it sets out to do well and will provide you hours of protection in your time of need.
4 Lionel's Set
Want to never get knocked down again? Look no further than one of the heaviest armor sets in the game: Lionel's Armor Set. Lionel's Set is among the best sets in the game with excellent Poise, fantastic defensive stats, and fantastic ailment resistance. And it looks absolutely ridiculous but in all the right ways.
Though we should warn you that you cannot get your hands on this iron panoply, you will have to reach the late-game region of the Leyndell. Lionel's Set is located on a bed within the Lower Capital Church. But, please, be prepared before heading into this area as it is recommended you be at least Level 90 before entering.
3 Bull-Goat Set
If you thought the last armor set was hefty, wait until you discover the Bull-Goat Armor Set. With a total weight stat of 63, the Bull-Goat Set is amongst the heaviest in Elden Ring and has the protection to justify it. The Bull-Goat Set possesses one of the highest, if not THE highest, Poise attributes in the game and offers excellent protection against pretty much anything thrown at it.
And as expected, obtaining the Bull-Goat Set is not an easy task. Getting your hands on this armor set requires you to follow Patches' questline up until he moves to the Volcano Manor. Here, we will give you a note that tells you to assassinate Great Horned Tragoth. Successfully slaying Tragoth will reward you with the armor. But, be warned, this battle is not easy in the slightest.
2 Malformed Dragon Set
Though it has roughly half the Poise of the Bull-Goat Set mentioned above, the Malformed Dragon Armor Set is still an excellent choice for those that don't want to put all of their attribute points into Strength. The Malformed Dragon Set offers superb Physical Damage protection and protects you from most ailments in the game.
To receive the Malformed Dragon Set, you will have to reach Crumbling Farum Azula by speaking with Melina at the Forge of Giants Site of Grace in Mountaintops of the Giants region and select the dialogue choice "Commit to a sin." Once there, the armor set will drop after you successfully defeat the Malformed Knight boss. A word of warning, though, this area is very challenging with no Sites of Grace, so prepare thoroughly before attempting!
1 Radahn's Set
One of the best armor sets in the game will be available to you by progressing through the story as you normally would. Radahn's Armor Set, though another heavy armor set on the list, is exceptionally badass looking and offers solid protection, making it more than worth the effort it takes to obtain it. Radahn's Set has excellent Poise, Physical and Magical Protection and will help you resist most ailments.
The catch? Well, you must first defeat the mandatory boss: Starscourge Radahn - one of the game's most challenging bosses. Though, after emerging victorious on the battlefield, the set can be had for 36,000 Runes and is purchasable from Enia at the Roundtable Hold.
