There are so many NPCs to interact with within the vast world of Elden Ring. It’s impossible to keep track of them all. However, there are going to be favourites that are close to your heart. For instance, Patches will always be a near and dear NPC, even if he does throw us off a cliff every single time without fail.

Some characters have fantastic questlines, as well as amazing aesthetics while others will even have you downright creeped out with their behaviours. FromSoftware has gone above and beyond for the NPCs in this game, and these ones come out on top.

10 Dung Eater

The Dung Eater sat on the floor in Roundtable Hold

The Dung Eater NPC is just such a fascinating character. All he talks about is the rot within his body and ours and of the curse that has taken over our bodies. He also speaks freely of his desire to murder everyone. Whatever the creepiest NPC you've ever spoken to in a FromSoftware game is, he tops it.

If you choose to complete the Dung Eater's questline, you can even free him from his prison, where he will then ask to fight you. It’s a bit of a tricky fight, but a fun one. His entire questline is worth doing, and he is a character worth getting to know.

9 Fia, The Deathbed Companion

Fia The Deathbed Companion in Roundtable Hold

Everyone is bound to meet Fia at the round table and likely you'll be bewildered by her initial request for a quick cuddle, but take it on anyway. She could do no wrong in that, right? Wrong. She has now stolen some of your vigor without you knowing, and far too many players forget to use Baldachin's blessing.

Overall, Fia's character is fascinating and will screw you over in the nicest way possible. Her questline is complex but leads to an incredibly difficult boss fight by the name of Lichdragon Fortissax.

8 Ranni The Witch

Ranni the Witch sitting in Ranni's Rise

Ranni… Where to begin with Ranni? Her overall aesthetic is amazing, the voice acting is great, and the ending she gives you is equally fantastic. All in all, Ranni is a mind-blowing character with lots of twists and turns, and is one character that is really worth seeking out.

She can be eerie, sweet, and heartbreaking all at the same time. Her ending is something that no one will expect, making it really worth the trouble of discover.

7 Alexander, The Iron Fist

Alexander Iron Fist at Radahn's battlefield

Alexander, the Iron Fist is a comically large character and is indeed a jar. That's what sets him apart from the rest and just makes him fantastic.

He is a noble character, with a valiant questline. He even helps you fight Radahn. What's not to love about him? Who knew jars could be so polite, even when they munch on corpses?

6 Miriel, Pastor of Vows

Miriel, Pastor of Vows at the Church of Vow's

Miriel, Pastor of Vows, is the sweetest character ever. When you come across them, they are just not what you expect and are quite literally a turtle Pope. They're a very relaxed character, but their design is so cute that you can't help but love them.

If you’ve ever upset anyone, or accidentally whacked someone, this is the turtle you go to with your celestial dew. If your hand itches to kill him, perhaps think on it before doing so.

5 War Counsellor Iji

War Counsellor Iji at Snowfields

War Counsellor Iji is a giant that you find in the Snowfields, and he's a wise guy. He is very helpful and tells you important information about your journey. He is also an additional blacksmith, who jokes that you should stand back in case he clobbers you. What a stand-up giant.

However, if you take a shine to him be careful what quest lines you choose to pursue because he could wind up dead. Iji is a very lighthearted character who has a wealth of information, and those beloved somber smithing stones.

4 Rennala, Queen Of The Full Moon

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon sits in her library, cradling her Amber egg.

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon becomes an NPC once you have fought her in that very boss room. Once defeated, she sits in the middle of the room, clutching her beloved egg.

She is one of the most helpful NPCs in the game if you've screwed up along the way. She helps you respec your points if you've put them into the wrong stats. Other than that, her outfit is just darn cool. What's not to love about her? She's just so mysterious…

3 Blaidd

Blaidd in Nokron, The Eternal City

Blaidd, oh Blaidd. How he wishes he could just have Ranni's hand in marriage, but no matter how hard he tries, he just doesn't get it.

His character is noble and loyal and he'll fight alongside you against Radahn, too. Overall he is a stand-up guy, who deserves way better than the endings he gets. Poor Blaidd. He has a questline that has implications that harm other characters if you aren't careful. Make sure you are aware of the decisions you are about to make.

2 Ensha

Ensha leaning against a wall in Roundtable Hold

Ensha is the mysterious guy you meet when you go to the roundtable for the first time. He has a pretty cool armour set, and he just stands ominously in the corner of the room. You can try to speak to him all you want, but he won’t budge. What is he hiding?

Unfortunately, though, Ensha is the bad guy. He'll invade and try to kill you in the Roundtable Hold, as he wants something that you've got. Once you kill him, you unlock a nifty emote and get to keep his armour set.

1 Hyetta

Hyetta, blind Finger Maiden in Limgrave

Hyetta is such a sweet character. She wants so desperately to become a finger maiden, but, she is blind and doesn’t quite know the way without the aid of Shabriri grapes. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t realise that she’s chowing down on human eyeballs.

Telling her is a choice that you can make, should you wish to progress her quest. Then you can escort her to her true self, which is a pile of ashes. How nice.
