Elden Ring has taken the world by storm. It’s a masterful mix of classic Souls-like magic and modern open-world that has enamored everyone, their grandmas, and maybe even their pets. Interestingly enough, whilst on the subject of old people and fluffy companions, Elden Ring is absolutely chock-full of them.

More specifically, the number of dogs in Elden Ring is truly staggering. Every breed imaginable is ready to be found, and it’s clear From Software has put in a lot of research when it comes to accurately representing man’s best friend.

10 Best Boy

Elden Ring Loyal Dog

When it comes to dogs, you can’t go wrong with the bestest of boys lying next to the desiccated remains of their long-dead master. Loyal to the end, no matter how far away the end may be, this dog is the kind of dog everyone needs in their lives.

Personality and dogged loyalty aside, this dog also has a beautiful grey coat that looks silky and well-kept. Clearly, his master kept his buddy looking like the dog's bollocks, and I, for one, approve of such a rigorous grooming regime.

9 Fluffy Boy

Elden Ring Sheep

Loyalty isn’t always enough when it comes to your chosen woofer, but Elden Ring, as always, has you covered. This fluffy dog is ideal for anyone who wants to snuggle up beside some Grace with a dog that looks - and feels - like a cloud.

This dog is a quick learner. If you are the kind of owner who loves to teach their dogs tricks, then this ball of fluff is for you. After a short time, you are guaranteed to see results, as this dog loves to roll around like a dust bunny. Be aware that the males of this breed tend to get a bit rammy.

8 Flappy Boy

Elden Ring Eagle

Allergies can make it difficult for the afflicted to find a dog, but thankfully, this winged dog exists. Having no fur means this dog never casts, and since it has feathers, you can make some sick-looking arrows just by following it around.

Unfortunately, this dog is easily startled, and it will fly away at the first sign of danger. You can often locate your missing dog by searching the nearby cliffs, however. Fiercely independent, and a lover of freedom, this dog is often mistaken for a cat, but rest assured, it’s a dog. We checked.

7 Baggy Boy

Elden Ring Donkey

Everyone knows this dog. This dog has the reputation of being the first dog discovered in Elden Ring. Its existence pushed the community to discover more breeds of dogs, and since this list exists, they were successful in their endeavor.

Its ears are adorable, and its short hair makes it ideal for owners who can’t handle a longer coat. What’s more, this dog loves to carry things. Sometimes it carries bags, other times it will carry you - the possibilities are endless.

6 Snippy Boy

Elden Ring Crab

When it comes to dog breeds, I don’t think I’m alone when I say I like a dog that is immune to my ineptitude and clumsiness. Thankfully, this dog comes with a very durable shell, meaning it can take a wayward foot and still walk along like a champ.

Not only that, but this dog is not a biter, making it fantastic for when you have kids around. Be warned, however, this dog isn’t just for Christmas, and it will grow to be quite large. If you are looking for a small, purse-sized pup, then this scuttling sweetheart just isn’t for you.

5 Handsy Boy

Elden Ring Hand

This dog won’t be for everyone. Not because it’s a bad breed, but because people simply don’t want to put the effort in to adopt a dog that needs extra attention. This dog loves to play hide-and-seek, and when it's done playing, all it wants to do is grab you and give you a tight squeeze.

The love pouring out of this much-maligned dog is simply unmatched, but so few people can look beyond its unusual physical features. What it lacks in fur, it makes up for in extra legs, open wounds, and water-filled boils. What more could you ask for?

4 Huggy Boy

Elden Ring Bear Hug

Sometimes you just need a big hug from a dog who loves to share the love. This hug-adoring dog is ideal for owners who love a bit of constriction in the morning. Soft fur, wobbly belly, and so much love it can’t help but shout it in your face every opportunity it gets.

Just be cautious around kids, because this dog is on the big side, and it can’t always be trusted to play nice. If you want a bit of rough and tumble though, this dog is definitely for you.

3 Slimy Boy

Elden Ring Slug

If you are a vegan, or vegetarian, then boy, do I have the dog for you. This dog is an herbivore through and through, and will happily munch on leaves and greens. Just be careful around birds, and salt shakers, as this dog often gets bullied and has some common allergies that require constant attention.

Despite that, this dog is great when taken on a walk since it moves at a snail's pace. If you manage to lose sight of your dog for whatever reason, it even comes with a built-in slime-based tracking system.

2 Hard Boy

Elden Ring Turle

The hardest thing any dog-owner has to come to terms with is the brevity of their life in comparison to their own. Thankfully, this dog is known for having a lifespan that matches, and sometimes exceeds, the average human. This is a dog for life.

Not only that, this slow-moving, grouchy boy is hard as a rock thanks to its reinforced shell, making it a fantastic companion if you are planning on plodding around The Lands Between.

1 Immobile Boy

Elden Ring Throne

This dog has mastered one trick, and it will perform it endlessly. Its previous owner taught it to stay, and my god, does it stay. No matter what you do or say, this four-legged genius will remain firmly planted.

This does have its downsides, mostly that it’s hard to take it for a walk since it refuses to move. That being said, it does double up as a surprisingly comfy horse - even if its transportation capabilities are limited. Loyal, pleasing on the eye, and well-behaved - the perfect dog.
