Blaidd is arguably one of the coolest NPCs in Elden Ring. He's a badass, super tall wolf-man who also plays a huge part in Ranni The Witch's personal questline. What most players don't realize is that Blaidd has his own side quest outside of Ranni. His quest has to be done before Ranni's, otherwise, things can get messed up, and you won't be able to complete Blaidd's quest.

His quest is short but sweet and rewards you with a special talisman, Carian Filigreed Crest, most useful for mages and Faith builds. It's not necessary to complete this quest for the main story or for Ranni's questline. However, if you want to complete all side quests or unlock the talisman, here's how you find Blaidd before speaking with Ranni.

Head To Mistwood Ruins

Blaidd can be found early on in Elden Ring. He is in East Limgrave, standing at the Mistwood Ruins inside the forest. The nearest Sites of Grace are Mistwood Outskirts to the ruins North and Fort Haight West to the ruins South-East. This suave half-wolf will be howling from the highest point of the ruins.

You cannot interact with Blaidd in Mistwood Ruins until you speak with Merchant Kale back at the beginning of the game.

Merchant Kale is the Santa Claus-looking nomadic merchant who sits by the Church of Elleh Site of Grace. After finding Blaidd in the ruins, you will get a new dialogue option with Merchant Kale. Mention Blaidd to Kale and exhaust his dialogue. This will reward you with the finger-snapping emote.

Go back to Mistwood Ruins and stance yourself directly below where Blaidd is howling from. Use the finger-snapping emote here, and he will jump down to speak with you. From here, Blaidd will ask for your help in defeating a sworn enemy of his, the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, also known as the Forlorn Hound.

Defeat The Forlorn Hound

This boss is located within an evergaol in Limgrave. The Forlorn Hound Evergaol can be found in South Limgrave, just before the bridge into the Weeping Peninsula. The closest Site of Grace is Agheel Lake South. Once you reach the evergaol, enter it. There will be a gold summoning sign to use Blaidd as NPC help for the boss fight. Summon Blaidd into the fight to go forth in his quest.

The Forlorn Hound can be fought with or without doing Blaidd's quest, as evergaols can be found everywhere in the game. Defeating Darriwil rewards players with the Bloodhound's Fang curved sword. This is a popular weapon among the community that causes Bleed.

After you defeat Darriwil, Blaidd will be standing near the evergaol. Exhaust his dialogue. He will speak of a blacksmith you may find in Liurnia of The Lakes. Mentioning Blaidd to this blacksmith allows the purchase of the Carian Filigreed Crest talisman.

Blaidd's Appearances Ranni's Questline

Ranni the Witch in Elden Ring

Blaidd appears in Ranni The Witch's questline heavily. You can continue his personal questline here. However, continuing Blaidd's quest into Liurnia of The Lakes and beyond cannot be completed without first speaking with Ranni The Witch.

To find Ranni, you must first find the Three Sisters towers located behind Caria Manor in Liurnia of The Lakes. Your first encounter with Blaidd in Liurnia of The Lakes is via a spectral version of himself in Ranni's Rise. This is when Ranni requests that you speak to her partners in crime.

After progressing in her quest, you'll be asked to accompany Blaidd in finding the hidden city Nokron.

Speaking With Blaidd In Siofra River

Both you and Blaidd are searching for the entrance to the hidden eternal city. Once Ranni has given you this task, you can head to the Siofra River Bank Site of Grace.

When you're here, head South-East past the arena which holds the skeleton of a large deer, the Ancestral Spirit boss. Past this, you'll find Blaidd at the edge of the cliffs looking off into the distance. Exhaust his dialogue here.

Defeating Radahn And Finding Blaidd

Further into Ranni's quest, you'll need to defeat Starscourge Radahn in Redmane Castle, located within Caelid. Blaidd can be found at the festival and summoned to fight regardless of if you've started his quest in Limgrave or not.

After you defeat this boss, exhaust Blaidd's dialogue on the battlefield. He will ask that you meet him where the meteorite fell. This can be hard to find, as the world gives you little hint as to where exactly it fell.

The falling star made an entrance to Nokron in Mistwood, but you can actually speak with Blaidd back at the Forlorn Hound evergaol before going. To get that extra bit of story in Blaidd's quest, you must find him at the evergaol before going to Nokron — otherwise, you won't get the option to again.

Fighting Blaidd's Shadow Form

Continuing Ranni's quest will lead you to the depths of the Ainsel River. Here, you'll be tasked with killing a shadow-version of what seems to be Blaidd. This acts as an NPC invasion of sorts. You must defeat him here to progress to the next boss in Ranni's quest.

Defeating Blaidd And Receiving The Royal Greatsword

Once everything is well and done, Blaidd's last appearance is held in front of Ranni's Rise in Liurnia of The Lakes. When you travel here and exit the tower, Blaidd will immediately become hostile towards you, just outside the entrance. This cannot be avoided.

By defeating Blaidd you get his armor set (minus a helm) and unique weapon, the Royal Greatsword.

Though you cannot obtain his wolf-like face after killing him, you can loot a similar helmet nearby that's meant to complete the look. This is located by climbing the rubble to the left of the Seluvis' Rise entrance.

Blaidd's Royal Greatsword scales in strength, intelligence, and dexterity. It comes with a non-removable weapon skill, Wolf's Assault, which infuses the sword with frost damage and allows you to lunge at enemies and cause a minor frost explosion.
