There's no denying that Elden Ring is a tough game, but for some reason, Tarnished over on the Elden Ring subreddit are suggesting ways to make it even tougher. Those include adding Mimic chests and Chalice Dungeons from Bloodborne.

User EliteJoker07 got the conversation started by asking, "If you could add something in the Next ER patch, what would you put?" The top response was to add an option that would disable the pop-up message asking if you wanted to use a flask to summon Torrent. "THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES!" one Reddit user shouted to many replies of agreement.

The next answer, however, was something far less helpful: "Mimic chests." Those are the classic fantasy traps where a seemingly loot-filled chest turns into a toothy monster. Originally an idea from Dungeons & Dragons, Mimics have since transcended their tabletop origins and are a staple of video games from every genre.

Would Mimic's work in Elden Ring? We already have Mimic Tears, and we already have trap chests, so why not Mimic chests? It'd be the worst of both worlds.

After Mimics, the next suggestion was for "Random dungeons to farm materials once you beat the game." These would be great both as an end-game activity and a means of getting high-value, rare, or limited items, like high-level Smithing Stones or Ateria Leaves.

Another Reddit user noted that such a thing already exists in another Soulsborne game. "People hate on Bloodborne's Chalice Dungeons but I think they would be perfect in Elden Ring, as a way of getting crafting materials, duplicate weapons, and farming runes in the late game. It's not like the catacombs aren't just slightly worse chalice dungeons anyway."

For those unaware, Chalice Dungeons came in two flavors in Bloodborne: fixed Chalice Dungeons and procedurally-generated Root Chalice Dungeons. The randomly-generated kind could be shared and uploaded online if they happened to have a good collection of boss fights and decent loot drops. These dungeons were vast and extensively vertical and also offered more ritual materials and blood echoes than other areas of Bloodborne.

You could even find weapons in Chalice Dungeons, which is why some Tarnished suggested that an Elden Ring version would be a good spot to farm weapons requiring Somber Smithing Stones.

Another suggestion for Elden Ring players looking to dip their blade into the game's vibrant PvP community was a "Red Cipher Ring" that would only opt you into PvP invasions for 30 minutes similar to older Souls games. "Gives a midpoint for those who like PvP but don't want to ONLY PvP."

Perhaps we'll get some of these suggestions in the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Or as other Redditors have suggested, we could also get a Let Me Solo Her NPC.
