Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast

The boss is located on Mt. Gelmir in Atlas Plateau. The nearest Site of Grace is Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite which is directly below where the boss's arena is. The boss is challenging but optional, so if you are having trouble, you can come back to fight it later. Not fighting it will not affect any ending in the game.

Defeating the boss will get you Fallingstar Beast Jaw, which is a very fun Colossal Weapon. It has a unique skill that sends out a lightning bolt. This has a pretty fast cast time, and you can spam it against bosses to break their posture and deal serious damage. You will also get a Somber Smithing Stone [6] and five Smithing Stone [6] required for weapon upgrades.

Fallingstar Beasts

Although Mount Gelmir's Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast is undoubtedly the hardest to tackle, this does not mean you can sleep on the capabilities of the Fallingstar Beast. There are two Fallingstar Beasts in The Lands Between. You can find one in a crater on the left-hand side of the Capital Outskirts' western gate, right across from Perfumer's Grotto. The other can be found in Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Caelid, which can be reached through a transporter's trap in Dragon-Burnt Ruins.

It is recommended to use Torrent for the Altus Plateau boss; and a tanky Spirit Ash for the Caelid boss.

Since this boss is literally made out of meteorite, that makes it impervious to physical damage of any kind, including Bleed, Poison or Scarlet Rot. Also, it has a wicked sharp, extendable tail that you should be extremely wary of, as its range is absolutely severe. The extra long horns on either side of its head are not only a melee weapon but have the ability to cause rocks to shoot out from the ground. But not to worry, there are certain vulnerabilities that can bring this beast to its knees - this will be examined in the Battle Strategies section below.

Unlike the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast, the Fallingstar Beast does not have the laser ability.

Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast Battle Strategy

The player looking at the boss.

There are two main strategies for this fight:

Melee Strategy

The player using a melee weapon to attack the boss.

Fallingstar Beast is quite a tanky boss. It has high resistance to all types of physical damage, making most melee classes do less damage to the boss. It is recommended that all players should make use of the boss's weakness towards all kinds of elemental damage. If you come back to the boss after defeating Dragonlord Placidusax, you can use both Placidusax's Ruin and Dragon King's Cragblade special skill to deal severe Lightning damage to the boss.

You can not rely on your bleed weapons even if you have been using them until now. This is mainly because the boss is Immune to Hemorrhage. However, the boss is not immune to Scarlet Rot, so you can use multiple breaths of Rotten Breath to inflict it with the status effect. This is not recommended if you are facing the boss alone, as you can get hit by attacks during the breath animation. While fighting the boss with another online player or Spirit Ash might prevent that.

Ranged Strategy

The player using Sorcery on the boss.

Ranged players are at an advantage because the boss is weak against Magic, Fire, and Lightning. This allows Mage Build and Faith Build players to prioritize bringing fast cast spells with severe damage. Rock Sling and Great Glintstone Shard are good choices for Mages as they are fast Sorceries. As for the Faith Build users Fortissax's Lightning Spear, Flame of the Fell God, and Lannseax's Glaive are good spells to use.

Spellcasters can also make use of Spirit Ashes and Torrent. Summoning a Spirit Ash with high health will allow the spirit to attract the boss while you roam around on Torrent and cast spells. Being on Torrent will allow you to avoid most attacks with ease. However, some attacks like the Rolling Ball become more difficult to dodge if you are not precise with your timing. Try to focus all of your attacks on the boss's head, as that is the weak spot. This will make the boss take more damage and will break its posture relatively quicker.

Fallingstar Beast Battle Strategies

Elden Ring Battle strategies for the Fallingstar Beast

There are two different approaches you can take when it comes to battle strategies. The Fallingstar Beasts have impeccable range and inflict heavy damage. However, since one is located in an open terrain while the other is in a cave, the latter will posit the greater problem due to lack of mobility.

Thankfully, the Altus Plateau boss does not possess a second phase.

Melee Strategy

Elden Ring Fallingstar Beast's melee strategy

A slight disadvantage compared to ranged combatants, getting close to the Fallingstar Beast is very risky. However, there are certain weapons that prove to be the boss's Achilles heel, and that is the Meteoric Ore Blade +6 (found in Caelid Waypoint Ruins). Particularly effective against the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast, it is equally effective against the Fallingstar Beast boss. You should also consider using the Bloody Slash Ash of War against this boss, or The Sword of Night and Flame (Caria Manor) and Bastard's Stars (attainable after defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void).

We recommend using a tanky Spirit Ash summon against this boss. If you're a tank yourself, then, by all means, use the Mimic Tear. But if you're more a sorcerer build, then using Lhutel the Headless or Kaiden Mercenary scaled up to a +9 is recommended. Also, consider using Opaline Bubbletear to negate damage; equip Rowa Fruit to keep Torrent alive during the Altus Plateau battle.

Ranged Strategy

Elden RIng Ranged strategy for Fallingstar Beast

Ranged strategists generally require distance to cast, however, this boss can cover that distance frighteningly quickly. As a result, we recommend equipping Opaline Bubbletear for extra defense. When it comes to sorceries, it is susceptible to elemental damage, from Ancient Lightning Spear to Agheel's Flame. You can also use Rock Sling, Cannon of Haima, and Greater Glintstone Shard.

Again, we recommend using tanky Spirit Ashes like the ones recommended for melee combatants.
