Demakes are becoming a rather popular form of fan art these days as more and more video game players dabble with development. If you're not sure what a demake is, it's essentially taking a popular game and breaking it down, usually to mimic the aesthetic of a certain game or retro console/handheld. For example here's a version of The Stanley Parable that was demade in the Half-Life 2 engine.

As previously mentioned, these demakes tend to be of rather popular titles, and no title is as popular at the moment as Elden Ring. In steps Twitch user shintendoTV who recently made a Reddit post sharing their Gameboy demake of Elden Ring, turning the game into something you'd normally see on Nintendo's very first handheld. First discovered by IGN, the video on Reddit shows the player in the starting section of Elden Ring, right before being swiftly pummelled by the area's boss. The true Elden Ring experience.

ShintendoTV shares a little bit more about their project in the replies to the post, explaining that the game is running on GB Studio 3.0 which they describe as a "really impressive and brand new piece of software." They admit that they haven't quite decided on the scope of the project just yet as Elden Ring is absolutely massive, but wants to at least recreate Limgrave before the end of May.

If ShintendoTV's project sounds interesting to you and you'd like to know more, you can check out their Twitch channel in which they stream the development process in what looks to be pretty minute detail.

Rather unsurprisingly - since people consider its games some of the best ever made - Elden Ring isn't the only FromSoftware property that's undergone the demake treatment. You may recall that a PlayStation 1 demake of Bloodborne called Bloodborne PSX released quite recently and was incredibly popular, amassing over 100,000 downloads in less than 24 hours. All we need now for some to demake Dark Souls into a Mega Drive game and we'll have the set.
