After telling Melina at the top of the Forge of the Giants to burn the Erdtree, you will find yourself on a bridge in Crumbling Farum Azula. This is where many bosses, including Maliketh the Black Blade, reside. Crumbling Farum Azula is the second last main area in Elden Ring and is a sight to behold. The area is known to harbor Lichdragons and Beastmen. After exploring the areas and reaching the Dragon Temple, you will face Godskin Duo, a very challenging fight to overcome.

FromSoftware is known for the tough duo boss fights it throws at you. Ornstein and Smough is a well-known fight and the most brutal fight in Dark Souls. Similarly, Godksin Duo can be a very frustrating fight as you have to kill both of them while dodging all the attacks they throw at you. Here is all you need to know about the fight.

Godskin Duo is located inside the Dragon Temple in Crumbling Farum Azula. The fight is not optional as you have to face them in order to proceed further into the area. You can summon Spirit Ashes or other online players to aid you in this boss fight. The boss fight can be tricky, but both the Noble and the Apostle have a lot of weaknesses to tone down the fight. Piercing weapons with high Thrust damage and Kartana or Curved Swords with high Slash damage can deal severe damage to the boss.

Both bosses are strong against Strike attacks to avoid using Hammers or Clubs for this fight.

Aside from physical damage, you can also use Incantations like Dragonice or Rotten Breath, both of which you can purchase at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in exchange for a Dragon Heart. These dragon breaths deal Frostbite, and Scarlet Rot, respectively, which the boss is weak against.

Defeating the boss will get you an Ash of War and a Bell Bearing that allows you to buy Smithing Stone 7 and Smithing Stone 8 after handing the bell to Twin Maidens Husks, who resides in the Roundtable Hold.

Strategies

Mount Combat in Elden Ring

There are two main strategies for this boss fight:

Melee Strategy

Tarnished attacking the boss with a melee weapon.

For the melee strategy, you have a wide range of weapons to choose from. A lot of weapons have good skills that are pretty useful in this fight.

A particularly useful skill is Hoarfrost Stomp. This skill allows you to stomp the ground, causing a trail of freezing mist to form on the ground. It has a high amount of damage and while it was nerfed in a post-release patch, it's still good for damaging both bosses. It also applies the Frostbite effect on the Godskin Duo and deals massive damage to their health bars. You can use the pillars as cover and stomp behind them to apply the status effect.

  • Hoarfrost Stomp is the default skill of the Icerind Hatchet and also has an Ash of War version that you can put in any melee armament.
  • The Ash of War version is dropped by an Invisible Scarab located southeast of Caria Manor in Liurnia of the Lakes.

The bosses are also weak towards Hemorrhage, so using dual bleed Katanas can be very useful in this fight. Try to get one or two hits in between every attack until the boss bleeds, which will take out a lot of their health bar.

Do note that after any one of the bosses dies, they will respawn in 15 seconds but their health bar will not replenish. This respawn time gives you plenty of time to focus on the remaining boss and deal heavy damage before dealing with both of them simultaneously again.

One good way of fighting can be to lure out Godskin Apostle and take him out. After that, you can focus on Godskin Noble. Even after one boss is defeated, you can still attack their vanishing corpse for a few extra hits that deplete the main health bar.

Ranged Strategy

The player attacking the boss with Sorcery.

Both the bosses will try to come close to executing most of their attacks, and getting hit by one of them can put you in a risky position, so keeping your distance puts you at an advantage. Making use of Spirit Ashes for this fight will help you full advantage of this.

The Mimic Tear in particular might be a good option here, but only if you stay aggressive as well. Otherwise, both the bosses will fight the Spirit and take it out relatively quickly.

You could instead summon the bulky Greatshield Soldier Ashes or Crystalian Ashes, as they can tank the bosses while you charge your endless Comet Azur with the help of the Cerulean Hidden Tear or fire off constant Rock Slings, which does great damage and breaks the boss's poise.
