Elden Ring patch 1.06 just dropped, and it seems like a lot of players didn't read our handy breakdown of two of the biggest changes: increased distances to summoning and invading, as well as rolling adjustments. Well, players have taken to the Elden Ring subreddit to share their misadventures after the new update sends them further than expected.

Redditor OrganizedBonfire posted a video of themselves invading another player's world. They start off in what looks to be one of the game's many castles and then end up in the Lake of Rot, at which point the video comedically cuts off just as the area sign appears.

The Lake of Rot is a deadly area that quickly builds up your Scarlet Rot gauge. In other words, it's somewhere no one wants to be. One Redditor put it aptly, "An invasion that would horrify both the invader and host. Truly a Miyazaki special."

The reason this vast distance was crossed is the 1.06 update. Now, summon signs can be sent to summoning pools in distant areas, beyond the one your character is in. This also works for invasions, meaning you may try to invade a low-level area to pwn some n00bs but actually get sent all the way to hell itself.

Another post shows an unlucky Invader getting pulled into a fight just in front of Maleinia's arena, a very late-game area that only the most hardened Tarnished will be waiting outside.

They very quickly get spanked by the duo, as they also don't seem to know about the changes to rolling distance. Now, all players with a light equip load will roll further when they dodge, meaning if you're equipped properly you can out roll a fleeing opponent and back them into a corner.

Be careful out there folks, and read the full patch notes.
