Elden Ring has its fair share of unique bosses. These bosses are located in different areas of the map, inside caves, or guarding entrances/items. Some field-type bosses only appear during nightfall, and you will have to change the time at a Site of Grace to face them. Night's Cavalry is one of the Field-type bosses that appears in four different locations throughout the game.

Night's Cavalry usually roams around one small area on his horse at nightfall. Engaging him or getting close will initiate the fight. The boss fight is relatively easier than other bosses you will face in Weeping Peninsula.

Updated on 4 June, 2022 by Charlene Maria Teressa: These mounted sentinels of the dark continue their reign over the night in other locations in The Lands Between. From Limgrave to the crimson lands of Caelid, these horrors on horseback are still only visible during nightfall. With nine more Night's Cavalry bosses wielding different weapons, we knew this guide would only be really completed if we added all of them.

The Night's Cavalry is one of the first bosses you will encounter in Weeping Peninsula if you explore the area in Night-Time. The boss can be seen roaming along the main path leading to Castle Morne. Fighting the boss is entirely optional; you can ignore him and go forward regardless of the time. Further on, you will encounter other Night's Cavalry bosses only during the nightfall. They will either wield a flail or a glaive. The latter is more challenging to battle since its range makes it an issue for you to get close.

Night's Cavalry bosses are immune to most elemental damage, as well as poison and bleed attacks. But they are particularly vulnerable to lightning attacks, so coating your blade with Lightning Grease or an Ash of War that gives you a Lightning Effect is best. Do note that you cannot summon Spirit Ashes to help you, but you can call your friends to help.

Fortunately, most Night's Cavalry drops are more than worth it to defeat them. They give you an array of amazing Ashes of War that will be a great help throughout your gameplay. With over ten Night's Cavalry bosses in ten different locations, expand your repertoire of Ashes of War and your armoury.

Night's Cavalry Attacks

Night's Cavalry does not have a wide variety of attacks and will only use two attacks most of the time. Similar to the Tree Sentinel boss fight, the camera in this fight will move a lot because of how the boss travels around the area. Every attack can be found below, along with some tips on how to avoid them.

Battle Strategies

Night's Cavalry riding towards Tarnished.

There are three strategies for this fight: dodging and counter-attacking for melee users, sprinting on Torrent, or poking the boss at a range. This applies to Night's Cavalry bosses that wield glaives as well.

Melee Strategy

Tarnished using a melee weapon against Night's Cavalry in Elden Ring.

The melee strategy revolves around perfecting your dodge timings. You need to make sure that you do not greed attack as you can die in a hit or two. Bringing an extended-reach weapon is helpful as you can poke the boss more. Getting used to the boss's attacks and using invincibility frames to roll through can save you from any damage. Dodging is the preferable option to blocking for this fight. This is because blocking will take a lot of Stamina and might break your stance sometimes.

Using Guard Counter is not an option in this fight as the boss usually moves out of reach after attacking.

If your attacks land both on the boss and his stead, the horse can die, and he will fall over. This gives you enough time to get a free couple of hits before he gets back up. If you are close to him after he loses his steed, then he will fight you on the ground. If you roll away from him, he will summon his horse again.

As mentioned before, equip a weapon that deals lightning damage. The Lightning Slash Ash of War is your best bet, and apply it to any weapon. If you don't have this Ash of War, use Lightning Grease instead.

Mounted Strategy

Tarnished facing the Night's Cavalry boss on Torrent.

With your summoned mount, Torrent, you can run through the boss's attacks and attack him from behind. Because of your mount's speed, you will most likely dodge most of the attacks with ease. All you need to do is wait for the boss to use his slash attack and rush to counter-attack. You also have the option to attack either side while on the mount by pressing your left or right bumpers.

It is recommended to fight on horseback when dealing with this type of enemy.

To cheese the Lenne's Rise Night's Cavalry, simply gallop up the path with the poison traps. Let it chase you and the boss will die all on its own.

Ranged Strategy

Tarnished using his staff to shoot magic at Night's Cavalry.

For the ranged strategy, you need to keep your distance. If you are aiming for Sorcery, then make sure to bring Swift Glintstone Shard (Sorcery) and Glintstone Arc (Sorcery). You will probably always be away from the sweep attack but make sure to dodge the Leap attack. If you are using a Bow, then going for a Shortbow is recommended as it fires much quicker than the other bows.

For higher-level Night's Cavalry bosses, you can use Lightning Strike or Lightning Spear spells on them. Rock Sling and Night Comet are good options to consider, too.

To cheese the Consecrated Snowfield duo, lead them away from the caravan party. Then position yourself on top of nearby rocks and let them fall off, before spamming Rotten Breath incantation on them from above.
