Elden Ring's PS5 file size and pre-load time have been leaked and it's not as bad as you might expect. You only need around 45GB of space to get into the Lands Between.
PlayStation Game Size Twitter account, which keeps track of the files directly added to the PSN database, claims FromSoftware's latest game requires 45GB of free space. This doesn't include the day one patch, mind. The pre-load starts two days prior to the official launch — on February 23.
This is well below some other upcoming PS5 games, such as Horizon Forbidden West, earlier reported to take up a whopping 96GB of storage. Considering how many anticipated games February is filled with, you'd probably need to wipe clean your SSD in just a month — or maybe it's time to finally expand. 'Tis the season to get new hard drives.
Elden Ring's file size appeared on Xbox Store earlier with a size of 50GB, so it's not too far off on PS5. As is often the case, the exact size will slightly differ on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. We still know nothing about Elden Ring's file size on PC, as no such information is available on the game's Steam page at the time of writing.
Elden Ring is the studio's first attempt at the traditional open-world formula, providing players with more ways to explore the surroundings while even travelling on the horseback, finding their own challenges and bosses to overcome, and slowly unveiling the story of this intriguing world. Elden Ring is currently expected to launch on February 25 with (hopefully) no further delays. Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, who helped craft the world and imaginary history of the project, recently said the game looks "incredible" and "the day of Elden Ring is finally at hand." With FromSoftware's newest creation taking the most anticipated game of the year reward for the second year in a row, let's hope it lives up to all the hype.
