Bethesda's mobile spin-off The Elder Scrolls: Blades was supposed to release on Switch yesterday. Clearly listed for a May 12, 2020, date on the eShop, the day came and went without Blades being available. If one navigates to the eShop today, a new date of May 14, 2020, can be seen. What is going on?

The discrepancy was noticed by Destructoid after looking for the game on Nintendo's digital storefront. It seems Bethesda forgot to tell everyone that Blades was getting delayed. Maybe the game isn't delayed and Bethesda just wants to string everyone along until a cancelation notice. Can anyone really say?

What makes this last-second delay more troubling is that Blades did officially launch on mobile devices yesterday. The game had been available for a few months in an early-access state but was updated to a 1.0 release just yesterday. Bethesda clearly had plans to release the Switch version simultaneously but had to pull back at the final hour.

That could be a sign of bad things to come. With Bethesda's more recent track record of shoddy releases, it wouldn't surprise me that Blades is a total mess on Switch and the company is trying to obscure that fact by silently delaying it.
