Skyrim is generally an easy game because the player can adjust the difficulty as they see fit, and it is easy to become overpowered in most Elder Scrolls games. Skyrim players can obtain unique equipment, powerful spells, and unique perks that allow them to become much more powerful than their enemies very early in the game.

Some players have been playing Skyrim for so long that they want a new challenge that will make the game more difficult to complete, and there are some very interesting ideas that players have come up with over the years. The restrictions that players can put on themselves to challenge their innermost Dragonborn are some of the most fun ways to play Skyrim.

10 No Weapons Or Armor

Weapons and armor are important in Skyrim and in most video games because they allow the player to protect themselves as well as deal out damage to enemies.

Without weapons or armor in Skyrim, players will have to rely solely on magic and shouts if they want to defeat enemies. The lack of protection from armor will also be a major challenge, and this is one of the hardest challenges to complete in the game, especially on harder difficulties.

9 No Followers Or Conjurable Companions

Followers and companions allow the player to have an ally by their side, and they make combat noticeably easier because there will be a distraction during battle.

The follower can also deal extra damage to enemies and not having any companions for the entire game is a very tough restriction. Conjurable companions are also counted in this challenge because they are very similar when compared to regular followers, with the exception that they are summoned instead of recruited.

8 Only Use Conjuration Spells

Although having no followers may be difficult, it can be even more difficult of a challenge to only use conjuration spells instead of any other type of magic or weaponry in combat.

Conjuration spells allow the player to summon a bunch of different allies to fight by their side, including a Flame Atronach and even a Dremora. It is worth trying out this challenge for any player that wants to become a master Necromancer, and it is also extremely tough, which is great for veterans of Skyrim that need some artificial difficulty for a new playthrough.

7 No Enchanted Items

This challenge is somewhat easier than a lot of other challenges in Skyrim because it restricts less, but it can still be quite difficult for players to abide by.

This restriction will make it so that players can not use any enchanted items, including armor, weapons, and jewelry. No enchanted items will mean that the player will rely solely on basic equipment to get by in the land of Skyrim, which can be especially difficult for players that are used to using unique items.

6 No Hud

Turning off the HUD in Skyrim will make it so that the player cannot see their health bar along with many other important pieces of information during the heat of combat. The player will then have to rely on their best knowledge to determine if they are close to dying and how much magicka they have left.

Turning off the HUD will also make it much more difficult to find locations throughout the world because quest markers will not be present, and neither will the general compass.

5 No Potions Or Healing Items

Healing items and potions are one of the most important things to stock up on before heading out on a new adventure in Skyrim. However, this challenge says that the player should not use any healing items during combat, and this includes restoration spells as well.

The restrictions of this challenge will make it much harder for the player to defeat enemies, and it will even require the player to occasionally retreat if they are down to their last few HP.

4 No Fast Traveling

Fast traveling can make getting from one location to the next a breeze, but restricting this feature will make the game much more of a challenge for players of any type of play-style.

The no fast traveling challenge will force the player to take the scenic route around most locations and will let the player experience some beautiful sights that they otherwise wouldn't have experienced, while also providing a difficult challenge. This challenge includes carriages because those are also a form of fast traveling.

3 Restrict Inventory Space

When the player restricts their inventory space, it means that they will have to plan before heading out on a new adventure and possibly sell many of their beloved items to a merchant or store them in their house.

Inventory space is important in Skyrim and other Bethesda RPGs because the player will only be able to carry a certain amount of items before they are over-encumbered. Restricting the inventory space even more down to 50 or less can make the game much more challenging but also more realistic.

2 No Leveling Up

Leveling up allows players to gain new perks and more health, stamina, or magicka. All of these things are important for character progression, and it's the only way to become more powerful other than obtaining new equipment and spells.

Players that want a true challenge and to make the game much more difficult during combat should try this challenge because it is one of the hardest for players to dedicate themselves to.

1 No Killing

This challenge requires players to sneak past enemies and avoid killing them entirely. The point of the No Killing challenge is to create a peaceful character that doesn't want to be involved in any bloodshed.

To beat Skyrim, players will have to kill a few enemies, including Alduin; however, the player can avoid killing almost all of the other enemies and sneak past them instead. This is a difficult challenge, and one of the best tips for completing it is to use the Paralysis spell.
