The recent Pokémon press conference revealed lots of new games and smartphone apps, but there was at least one person who couldn't contain their excitement when mention was made of Godzilla: King of the Monsters and that was the person translating the event into English.

The Pokémon Company recently held an event called the Pokémon Business Strategy Announcement, which was a press conference that was broadcast all over the world on Twitch and YouTube. The majority of the people speaking at the event were Japanese executives, which meant that the stream was being translated live by both English and Chinese interpreters.

The Pokémon Business Strategy Announcement event was hosted by The Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. There was a point during the event where Pokémon: Detective Pikachu was discussed and Ishihara welcomed Hiro Matsuoka to the stage, who is the managing director of Toho, which is the distributor of the film in Japan. Matsuoka was there to make the announcement that he was being appointed to The Pokémon Company's board of directors.

Matsuoka decided to drop a plug for Godzilla: King of the Monsters during his speech, which is currently in theaters. He promoted the fact that the movie stars Ken Watanabe and asked fans to check it out. When the camera went back to Ishihara, he sarcastically thanked Matsuoka for so casually inserting the news about Godzilla that was so related to Pokémon into the event.

The English interpreter was unable to maintain his composure throughout this segment and he kept laughing during the moments when Godzilla: King of the Monsters was plugged and Ishihara's reaction to the advertisement.

This isn't the first time that an English interpreter has had issues during a Nintendo-related event, as Suda51's manner of speaking caused issues at the Nintendo Switch reveal event when the interpreter couldn't follow what he was saying.

The Pokémon Business Strategy Announcement was filled with reveals for upcoming games and some bizarre apps, but that didn't stop at least one Toho executive from sneaking in a commercial for the latest Godzilla movie and leave one poor interpreter with the job of making it through his speech without breaking out into laughter.
