What Upgrades Are Available?

Upgrades are ways to improve your squads. They are available to purchase with Squad Points, which you earn as your Squad levels up and your soldiers increase their ranks.

Each Squad has its own leveling system, as well as its own Squad Points that they earn as they progress through the ranks. However, Squad Points and Squad Upgrades are not shared between your different Squads.

Upgrades are split into three categories:

  • Squad Upgrades
  • Personnel Upgrades
  • Workshop Upgrades

A balance between these three is essential to succeed across all of the campaigns in Enlisted.

Squad Upgrades

Squad Upgrades allow you to increase the total amount of soldiers that you can take into battle. However, this doesn't mean you can just throw any class of troop into your Squads. Every Squad has limits on the maximum number of soldiers of each class. You can also increase these limits in Squad Upgrades.

The size of your troop reserve can even be increased, or you can enhance how much XP a Squad earns to level it up quicker.

Personnel Upgrades

Personnel Upgrades unlock new slots for your troops in a specific Squad. This allows your soldiers to have a sidearm, backpack, or even multiple rifles.

Squads have their own limits on what rank soldiers can be, but you can increase this limit in the Academy (and this guide can show you how). This is necessary if you are training Soldiers in the Academy, as each Squad has its own limit on what rank soldiers can be.

There are also upgrades that allow you to raise the amount of XP soldiers earn in a Squad. If you get all of the Personnel Upgrades for a Squad, your soldiers could earn up to 100% more XP.

Workshop Upgrades

Workshop Upgrades allow you to improve your weapons and vehicles. This depends on the Squad, as only certain Squads can use vehicles.

After unlocking weapon upgrades, you can then reduce the cost of this process by unlocking more Workshop Upgrades.

Which Upgrades Are The Best?

The best upgrades, and the ones you should focus on unlocking first, are the ones related to XP. This will help you rise the ranks quickly and allow you to reach new upgrades in record time.

Next, you should focus on the upgrades for your specific class of soldiers, as well as add more to your squad. For example, a secondary gun for assault soldiers is a great choice, as well as a backpack for anti-tank soldiers and gunners.

You should wait to upgrade your weapons until after your squad has been fully upgraded. However, before you start dismantling your weapons for parts to upgrade make sure you have all of the bonuses unlocked first.

Tips And Tricks For Upgrading

First and foremost, the later campaign squads will take longer to level up than the earlier ones, so these should be your primary focus after you have a decent squad to work with.

Purchasing the XP upgrades was already mentioned, but it is also important to note that unlocking this in your Personnel Upgrade section will unlock it for all soldiers of that type. For example, it could give all of your engineer-type soldiers across all your squads a 25 percent increase in XP. This is why if you tend to use a specific type of soldier you want to look into making this purchase.

When making weapon upgrades, you should go from left to right and from top to bottom as you unlock dismantling, then modification bonuses with order tokens.

Best Squads

You can buy premium squads that will automatically make you a powerhouse in the game, but others prefer the free-to-play aspect. It is still possible to build an amazing squad with the tools at your disposal, but there are a few tricks to make your arsenal truly amazing.

Enlisted allows you to have three infantry squads, and you should aim to have each one specialized for a specific task, but no matter what squad you are using you should always have an engineer at hand.

The anti-tank and anti-infantry squads are the most useful, followed by gunners and bombers. Part of your choice does depend on your play style and weapon choice, as a sniper will want a different squad than someone who loves tanks. Your main focus should be on your upgrades and improving your star level as this is what really counts toward making an amazing squad.
