Enter the Gungeon will shortly be celebrating its third anniversary and developer Dodge Roll has decided to give the fans one final free update as a thank you for their support.

The final update for Enter the Gungeon will be called A Farewell to Arms and it will include two new characters, a new regular enemy, new weapons, new items, and a new secret floor with a special boss monster. (via. PlayStation Blog)

A Farewell to Arms will also include Rainbow Mode, where the player starts off with a free Rainbow Chest that contains a rare item, but they will not be able to pick up any other items or weapons for the remainder of the run, outside of pickups and Master Rounds. The Rainbow Mode can be accessed through a new NPC called Bowler.

The A Farewell to Arms update will also bring a slew of new improvements, which will make it easier to find rare NPCs and will change the balance and functionality of many of the items in the game. The developers will also continue to release bug fixes for Enter the Gungeon after A Farewell to Arms has been made available, even though it will be the last official expansion released for the game.

A Farewell to Arms will be the third and final expansion for Enter the Gungeon, following Supply Drop and Advanced Gungeons & Dragons. There was originally going to be a much larger final update that would have been released as paid DLC, but the developers stated that they were burnt out from working on the game and were going to release a smaller free update to cap off the game, which has turned into A Farewell to Arms.

The final expansion for Enter the Gungeon will be available on several different platforms upon release, which means that the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game will receive A Farewell to Arms at the same time.

The A Farewell to Arms update for Enter the Gungeon will be released for free on April 5, 2019.
