Epic has admitted that they took a wrong turn with the pricing of their Slippery weapon Wrap in Fortnite following a player backlash.

The devs of the insanely popular battle royale game have been pretty much on point when it comes to cosmetic pricing. But they failed rather epically with the release of the new Slippery Wrap and fans let them know.

They have since owned up to their trying to pull a fast one on the fandom, backtracking on the original price of 500 V-Bucks and slashing it by 200.

"We slipped up on the Slippery Wrap. The wrap does not animate," a tweet from Epic reads. "The price and rarity will be reduced to 300 V-Bucks in the future. We will be refunding the difference to anyone who purchased it."

The free-to-play title usually sells animated wraps (skins with moving patterns that shift throughout the game) for 500 V-Bucks while non-animated ones are normally set at 300 V-Bucks. For some reason, they decided to price the Slippery Wrap - which is not animated, as they've since admitted - similarly to an animated one. To be fair, the Wrap does look pretty swank, but fans were quite unhappy to see it going for 500 V-Bucks when it's clearly not animated.

It didn't take long before the stick hit Epic, though. And, just two hours following the Wrap's release, they admitted their "slip up" in a Twitter apology that also promised a refund to any player who has already purchased the overpriced skin.

The skin is still in Fortnite's in-game store but it's probably set to rotate out as all other skins are prone to. It seems that Epic has been unable to change the price while the Wrap is still in the store so it still displays the 500 V-Buck price - however, players who purchase it should receive a rebate.

Prior to this slip, Epic had not provided an official difference in price for animated and non-animated wraps; it was just the trend. This admission could be confirmation that there is indeed a standard but, then again, it's not necessarily set in stone.
