Epic Games has confirmed that the Driftboard is finally coming to Fortnite, two months after the vehicle was first promised.

Do you remember a time not so long ago when we had to travel around Fortnite Island on foot? It seems almost unthinkable now considering the number of vehicles we have to choose from. Quadcrashers, Stormwings, even ziplines that we can use to get around the game much more quickly.

For the past two months, there was supposed to be another form of transport available to Fortnite players. The Driftboard. Epic revealed the snowboard-like piece of kit back in December, announcing that it would be added to the game via the 7.10 update. However, that update came and went and the Driftboard was nowhere to be seen. Epic explained that a bug had been discovered with the vehicle and it was therefore removed from the update.

Two months have passed with little to no mention of the Driftboard, until now. On Sunday, February 17, an announcement that the Driftboard is "coming soon" was added to Fortnite's in-game newsfeed. The update reads "Mobility. Style. Flare. Put your own spin on the game with the new limited time Driftboard." So no exact date, but we are a lot more hopeful of actually getting to take the Driftboard for a spin this time.

Dataminers have also discovered that the Driftboard might well arrive hand in hand with a new Limited Time Mode, according to Dexerto. The code suggests that it will simply be called Drifitn' LTM, and that might well be how the long-awaited mode of transport is finally introduced to the masses. We'd certainly like to ride what effectively looks like a snowboard before Fortnite's snow and ice melts away completely.

Whatever Epic has planned for the Driftboard, at this rate it could be the last big addition we see during season seven. At the time of typing this, there is just a week and a half left until season eight begins. Even though it has been made clear that the new vehicle will only be available for a limited time, fingers crossed that we can all sit back and watch the new season arrive aboard our very own Driftboards.
