Seems like yesterday's guesswork was correct. Epic has unveiled the next free game in its Winter Sale giveaway and 2016's Superhot is up for grabs. A smash hit that many consider one of the best FPS titles of the 2010's, it's most definitely worth adding to your library of games.

Originally launched as something of a tech demo in 2013, the game became a Kickstarter success a year later that allowed developer SUPERHOT Team to create a more fleshed out title. Combining elements of shooters and puzzle games with a unique time mechanic (the game only moves when you do), the game is a curio in the genre for its innovation.

Probably the best feature is the replay system at the end of each round. Since you're moving in chunks of stopped time, the game will replay your entire run as one continuous motion. It makes you look like a true action hero, knocking heads about and throwing objects as if you were a hitman. It's a real power trip.

Don't let me oversell it, though. You really should just experience the game for yourself. With Epic offering it up until December 22 at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST, you won't have long to think. Just hop on in, add this bad boy to your account, and get to playing!

As for what's next, there really only seems like one answer. The lit matchstick points to Tomorrow Corporation's Little Inferno as the likely suspect. Superhot wasn't previously on the Epic Games Store, but Tomorrow Corporation has a developer page on the storefront. With none of its games getting discounts during the sale, this might be your best shot at grabbing the title on Epic.

With us being three days in and every title being an indie release, my dream of Control being on offer is looking incredibly unlikely. Epic is probably sticking to lower-profile titles to get people interested in the sales it has on bigger games. That's a typical marketing strategy that has proved effective in many retailer outlets.

Still, we can hold out hope for something bigger. At least everything has been good so far.
