That’s right, the inevitable Assassin’s Creed Odyssey DLC is on its way, and we’ve got an episodic adventure to get stuck into. We won’t be able to devour it in one sitting, like a Netflix series, though.

So, where do you stand on the Assassin’s Creed franchise at the moment? Like any long-running franchise, it’s had its ups and downs, its glitchy, buggy messes (that’s you, Assassins’ Creed Unity) and its PR missteps (that was Unity again, really), but things are looking bright at the moment.

One important element of that is not burning out. We’ve all become used to the likes of FIFA Soccer and Call of Duty busting out new entries on an annual basis, and diminishing returns can sometimes be a worry. Back in August, though, Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot stated that there wouldn’t be a fully-fledged new Assassin’s Creed installment in 2019.

Whether there’ll be another spin-off title to join recent mobile release Assassin’s Creed Rebellion remains to be seen. Beyond that, all we know for now is that Odyssey is going to continue to be supported after its launch, with the arrival of its episodic DLC series.

Ubisoft has just released a suitably hype-filled trailer for the Legacy of the First Blade DLC story ( you can check it out below), which is going to be told in Telltale-style hunks. The teaser gives us a hint of what’s in store: surprisingly agile old beardy guys, the fighting of the good fight, and some of that dramatic new naval combat the series has been doing so well recently.

As Destructoid points out, the first episode is titled “Hunted,” and will be available from December 4th. After that, we’ll reportedly receive two more episodes with six weeks in between them.

In the Spring of 2019, the second story arc, Atlantis, will begin, bringing a fantasy focus to the action. Also in 2019, there’ll be more Odyssey season pass content: Assassin’s Creed III Remastered and Assassin’s Creed Liberation.

Will these two episodic experiences be of the same quality as the excellent campaign that Odyssey already boasts? There’s no saying just yet, but fans will have a real treat in store if so. Stay tuned for the launch of Hunted, early next week.
