It was revealed during the keynote address at QuakeCon 2019 that Doom, Doom II, and Doom 3 were being made available on modern systems, to much excitement. That's not all, however; it seems that another classic Doom title might also be getting a port, as Doom 64 has received a PEGI rating.

Doom is rather infamous for being ported to numerous different systems over the years, not all of them exactly what you'd call a gaming console. This is mostly due to its requirements are so low that it can run on anything with a digital interface - to the point that there is an entire subreddit dedicated to odd ports of the game. Contrary to the name, Doom 64 wasn't just a port of Doom for the Nintendo 64, but actually a title that stood on its own that takes place after Doom IIDoom 64 was praised upon release for its incredible graphics and amazing level design, yet it has been a relatively unknown entry in the series because it was never ported to systems outside of the Nintendo 64.

It seems that Doom 64's time in obscurity might be at an end.  According to the official Gematsu Twitter page, Doom 64 has been given a 16 age offical PEGI rating and is planned to be released on PC and PlayStation 4. It's likely that Doom 64 will also be released on other systems, as the other classic Doom games that were released recently also listed only PC and PlayStation 4 in their initial PEGI rating.

Strangely, the release date on the PEGI rating for Doom 64 has already come and gone. So when will the game actually be released? It's possible that it was planned to be released alongside the other classic Doom titles at the start of QuakeCon, but it was delayed due to some last-minute issue. It's also possible that an announcement for Doom 64 is being planned for the end of QuakeCon, which is due to take place on July 28.

Doom and Doom II have been ported to numerous systems over the years, while Doom 3 also saw an updated release in the form of the BFG Edition in 2012. The fact that Doom 64 has never been ported means its release would be a huge deal for fans of the series. One question remains: Will a Bethesda.net login be required upon launch?
