EverQuest developer Daybreak Game Company will be purchased by Enad Global 7, along with PlanetSide, H1Z1, and DC Universe Online, for $300 million by December 31.

According to Robin Flodin, Enad Global 7 CEO and co-founder, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Daybreak into the Enad Global 7 family today. Enad Global 7, a gaming conglomerate, includes Toadman Studios, Big Blue Bubble, and Antimatter Games, publishing division Sold Out, and marketing division Petrol Advertising. The group has also acquired MechWarrior series developer Piranha Games recently.

Daybreak Games Company comprises four studios: Darkpaw Games, which develops the EverQuest series, Dimensional Ink, which develops games based on the DC Universe, Rogue Planet Games, which develops the PlanetSide series, and Cold Iron Studios, which develops MMO and action titles and is currently working on a new PC and console shooter based on the Alien franchise.

Within the Enad Global 7 Group, Daybreak Game Company will “further strengthen and broaden the Enad Global 7 portfolio of engaging games and IPs, in addition to bringing in several strong teams both on development, operations, and strategy,” the group said.

Jason Epstein, Daybreak Game Company Executive Chairman, and Ji Ham, Daybreak Game Company CEO, have welcomed the company’s integration into the Enad Global 7 Group. Epstein stated that “the combined companies are strategically positioned to expand Daybreak’s unique and iconic portfolio of live games and will help amplify our passion for making great games for our awesome communities,” while Ham added that the acquisition will allow Daybreak to expand its IPs, development teams and player communities.

EverQuest, a 3D fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game, was originally developed by Verant Interactive and 989 Studios for Windows PCs. It was released by Sony Online Entertainment in March 1999 in North America, and by Ubisoft in Europe in April 2000.

In February 2015, Sony Computer Entertainment sold the studio to Columbus Nova, which rebranded it as the Daybreak Game Company. The first sequel, EverQuest II, was released 2004. The game has had 26 expansions since the original game was released.
