Everspace 2 lets you use your own spacecraft and presents you with ample opportunities to upgrade them and put them to use in several different combat scenarios. There are three different fighter classes, Light, Medium, and Heavy, and each of these features subclasses that are ready to help you mow down alien foes.

9 Sentinel

Medium subclass ships that boast an emphasis on delivering performance in exchange for the number of consumables you delegate to powering them up. The sentinel is a powerhouse capable of delivering effective damage all across the board.

With its passive ability to increase weapon damage output by 20%, you’ll be overwhelming foes in no time. This is a vessel meant for tactical engagement, and it functions best when you expend a good amount of resources into beefing up your attack.

8 Interceptor

Interceptor Flying In Space In Everspace 2.

The Interceptor lets its weapons do all the hard work, with barely anything else going for it. Ships from this subclass boast an impressive amount of firepower though, and their Ultimate ability grants you an unlimited amount of boost for a short while that gets prolonged with each kill.

The weapons also get a damage buff, and the vessel itself can use its boost energy to power up these dangerous weapons if their energy depletes at any point mid-battle. The speed and health aren’t that noticeable, however.

7 Vanguard

Vanguard Going Through Wormhole In Everspace 2.

A lightweight ship makes it easier to maneuver around a cluster of enemies, but usually, ships from this subclass have to compromise on their armor and shields in order to achieve those speeds. A quick getaway is this ship’s specialty, as you can use its special ability to bend space-time and escape.

Fortunately, the Vanguard overcomes any obstacles and manages to deliver an experience that’s the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, it does lack in terms of firepower in comparison to the other ships.

6 Bomber

Everspace 2 - Bomber Mid-Combat

Big, burly, and well-equipped, this doomsday device will eviscerate all it sees albeit while traversing through space at a reasonable speed. Equip a warhead onto this ship and expect it to deal crazy damage to your enemies.

Although it boasts impressive firepower capabilities, the bomber compromises a bit too much on its speed, and without the right skill you might even end up getting surrounded and overwhelmed by enemy attacks. Make sure to maintain an ample amount of distance and have some confidence in your ship’s tanking capabilities.

5 Scout

Need a quick agile escape from a precarious situation at large? Want to inflict some preliminary damage and emulate some dread as you get tailed by your enemies? The Scout is the perfect vessel for a getaway because it boasts a unique light body with ample firing capabilities.

Snipe away at your foes as you travel at lightspeeds navigating your way around the asteroid belts. You can mask your presence using Shadow Strike, even while engaged in combat.

4 Striker

Tactical and quick, this vessel can effectively target multiple enemies while providing you ample opportunities to back out and fly away in case your enemies pull any shenanigans or surround you.

The Striker features a special ability that locks onto nearby enemies and deals an impressive amount of damage at short notice. The ship can also grab and throw drones, and its damage increases with every locked-in enemy, thus making it a viable option for most players as it gets the job done without compromising too much on speed and mobility.

3 Gunship

Gunship shooting lasers in the middle of a battle In Everspace 2.

This behemoth may be one of the most robust and tankiest ships at your disposal. It features a body that’s able to house a decent amount of weapons that can double your damage output indefinitely.

This is a slow yet intimidating spacecraft that belongs to a subclass of ships capable of dealing a hefty blow without compromising your safety, for the most part.

If your play style is a slow methodical flight with critical strikes, then this ship is worth sacrificing your mobility stats. The Gunship is not only big but capable enough to handle your weapons and make use of their output effectively.

Just make sure to keep a close eye on your power consumption.

2 Stinger

Stinger about to enter a wormhole In Everspace 2.

Risky to play but high-yielding if played right, the Stinger is a Medium subclass ship that’s ready to have you rain hell on your enemies. The ship makes up for what it lacks in tanking damage by providing you the opportunity to overclock its weapons systems.

Not only that, the light frame of this build allows you to make quick escapes and strategically maneuver yourself away from impending doom. A skilled adept pilot can utilize this ship to wreak some impressive amounts of damage on an enemy's squadron.

The swarm ability can knock out enemies with relative ease, coupled with the disintegration laser this ship is capable of some rather impressive feats regardless of its tiny form factor.

1 Vindicator

Vindicator bombarding another ship In Everspace 2.

One of the most useful Heavy subclass ships in the game, the Vindicator is a powerhouse with perks. With enough upgrades, this behemoth is capable of throwing a near-infinite amount of drones that deal a good bit of damage.

This ship offers better mobility in comparison to the other spacecraft at your disposal, with versatility featured at the forefront. You have the choice to equip two primary and one secondary weapon onto the ship, this in tandem with the drones and high damage tanking capabilities make the Vindicator one of the best vessels in the game.

The reason why it's capable of sending out so many highly-effective drones for combat is in part due to the ship’s Reanimation ability. It allows for the production of five drones in one go.

You can also equip up to four consumables or devices as per your choice. The Phalanx Ultimate ability allows it to ramp up drone production, and it increases the ship’s total damage output with the option to recharge itself fairly quickly during dogfights.
