The Nintendo Direct presentation has wrapped up and revealed a number of games and content available right now or in the very near future. From Super Smash Bros Ultimate to nostalgic games from decades ago, there is something for everyone in this evening’s presentation.

Super Nintendo Games!

Some of the most exciting news is based on games from the 1990s. Since the release of the Nintendo Switch Online service, reception to the catalogue of Nintendo Entertainment System games has been lukewarm at times, and frustrating at others.

Now, we are finally seeing some of the best games from the SNES available on the Switch, with the same great rewind option as we have seen with NES games and online functionality for select titles. Check out the full list of the initial 20 games offered, available tomorrow!

Finally, a special edition SNES controller will be available for purchase and exclusive to Switch Online members, similar to the NES controllers. Players may want to instead take a look at the 8BitDo controllers, which offer outstanding quality in their builds and dual analogue sticks, which are missing from this limited-edition controller.

Banjo-Kazooie Joins Super Smash Bros.

After an exciting reveal at E3 this passed June, players have been waiting eagerly for the arrival of Banjo-Kazooie. As of now, the character is finally available for play in the game. Check out the video below by Director Masahiro Sakurai for a deep dive into the finer points of the character and to get a leg up on the competition.

Hopefully this new character will be less polarizing and controversial than Hero was upon his release!

Super Kirby Clash

This game is a bit of a wait-and-see in terms of how well it does. Four Kirbys fight as a team of four with a number of quests and jobs, which may simply be another term for classes. Curiously, this game is labelled as “free to start.” Does that mean one pays past a certain point? Would it not be better termed a demo of a game is so?

Divinity: Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition

This is available right now! Not only is this an outstanding game that is sure to be a welcome addition to any player’s library, but it also supports cross-saves between Steam and the Switch. This is a major point for many players who simply do not stand for games that make themselves islands among consoles. Overwatch has this issue presently, and it will be a hard sell to consumers if they cannot access years worth of cosmetics from other accounts.

Tetris 99 - Invictus

Tetris 99 will be receiving a brand-new mode named “Invictus,” for the most-skilled players. This will be available tomorrow, and a packaged version of the game is coming September 6 that should include credit towards a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Daemon X Machina

Another demo releases today for this game, but now all progress will carry over to the retail version of the game on launch on September 13.
