Over the past few years, we've seen more and more games attempt to make their games as welcoming as possible. A perfect example of this is the rise in games that are including an "arachnophobia mode," which allows those who are particularly scared of spiders to either turn them into something much less spooky, or remove them entirely. Grounded is probably the most high-profile game so far, turning it's hulking great spider into a couple of blobs with eyes.
Evil West is the latest game to implement one of these modes, although it's probably causing more harm than good right now. First spotted and shared by TikTok user CohhCarnage, they share a video of themselves turning on the arachnaphobia mode, making all the spiders disappear as intended. Perfectly fine so far. However, if you decide to be a little brave and want to face your fears head on, you may want to reconsider.
Instead of simply returning the existing spiders back to where they were, Evil West decides to make sure potential arachnophobes never feel brave ever again. CohhCarnage reveals that turning off the mode after switching it on beforehand drastically increases the amount of spiders in the area, as they completely cover the floor and surrounding cobwebs. Switching it back on will probably remove them again, but it's probably too late for those poor traumatized soles who have been affected by this already.
If you feel like wading through a sea of spiders, Evil West recently launched and is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you've never heard of the game, its essentially a third-person shooter that takes place in the Wild West, but pits you against an army of vampires as you wield a series of fantastical weapons to save the United States.
