Evil West, a third-person action game by Flying Wild Hog, features protagonist Jesse Rentier fighting against a horde of vampires, sometimes alongside a co-op clone of himself. Evil West is a brief but enjoyable experience, and afterwards, you will be looking for similar titles to play.
These games might feature a Wild West setting, vampires, whether they involve slaying vampires, playing as one, some combination of both, saving America or another area of the world from ruin, or just fun co-op action. Luckily, there are plenty of games that fit into one or more of these criteria.
8 West Of Loathing
West of Loathing comes from developer Asymmetric, the makers of the infamous 2003 web browser game Kingdom of Loathing, and uses the same art style as its predecessor. Now in a Wild West setting, West of Loathing sees the player character venturing out to a city known as Frisco in search of fortune.
Like its predecessor, West of Loathing's gameplay consists of turn-based combat, with all the comedic writing that Kingdom of Loathing fans would expect. Don't expect the same combat depth as other turn-based RPGs with much less crude art styles, though, or you'll likely be disappointed by what you find.
7 Vampire Survivors
A simple yet highly engaging game where you only need to move using the D-pad or keyboard arrows and nothing else during combat, Vampire Survivors features multiple characters with different skills, fighting against endless hordes of the undead, leveling up, gaining new weapons and abilities, and upgrading them along the way.
Despite its simple controls, Vampire Survivors is the type of game you can play for hours on end without realizing it, even though there's an in-game timer. Even after dying in a run, the money gained allows you to unlock new characters and boosts that can give you an advantage in your next run.
6 Castlevania Lords Of Shadow
A 3D Castlevania game surprisingly developed by MercurySteam rather than Konami, Lords of Shadow features Gabriel Belmont, another member of the Belmont family, as he hunts down the titular villains so that he can save his wife's soul.
Many have compared Lords of Shadow's gameplay to series like God of War, so it may be worth trying out for those fonder of its older entries. Lords of Shadow also received a direct sequel in the same style, called Lords of Shadow 2, and another sequel known as Mirror of Fate, which plays somewhat more akin to the classic side-scrolling Castlevania games.
5 Metal Wolf Chaos XD
At first glance, Metal Wolf Chaos may not seem like it has anything in common with Evil West besides being an action game, but it is also ridiculous and involves saving America. Instead of vampires, Metal Wolf Chaos features President Michael Wilson saving America from Vice President Richard Hawk's military coup.
One might ask how President Wilson will accomplish this, and the answer is with his custom titular mech suit and all the weapons it has at its disposal. Despite having fully voiced dialogue in English, Metal Wolf Chaos was not released outside of Japan until 2019 with the XD version, which has updated graphics and gameplay improvements.
4 Vampire The Masquerade: Blood Hunt
Taking place in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, Blood Hunt is a battle royale game that has you simultaneously playing as a vampire and killing other vampires. Like some other games in the genre, Blood Hunt features several vampire clans to choose from, all with their own strengths and weaknesses. These vampires also need to feed on the humans that appear every so often so that their hunger is satiated.
Supernatural abilities aren't the only weapons available in your arsenal, however, as there are plenty of guns and other weapons placed around each map for you to use to eliminate other vampires.
3 Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
The first mainline Resident Evil title to have co-op, Resident Evil 5 has Chris Redfield and the newly introduced character Sheva Alomar, who has not yet been featured in another mainline entry, investigating cases of the Ouroboros virus throughout Africa. Resident Evil 5 is a bit more action-heavy than its predecessors, but plenty of horror elements are still present.
The Gold Edition of the game includes various bonus content, the most notable of which are the Lost In Nightmares DLC, which has Chris and Jill Valentine exploring the mansion from the first Resident Evil, and the Desperate Escape DLC, which includes the events Jill experienced after fighting Chris and Sheva.
2 West Of Dead
Imbued with roguelike elements, West of Dead is a heavily stylized isometric twin-stick shooter game that takes place in a Wild-West-inspired version of purgatory. It features the Ghost Rider-like William Mason, voiced by actor Ron Perlman, shooting his way through this strange-yet-familiar realm filled with all manner of mythical creatures and spirits, as well as other former humans.
West of Dead has you using each room's environment to their advantage, whether that involves ducking behind cover, shooting nearby explosives for extra damage, or getting through obstacles. If William dies, he's sent right back to where he started, and the gameplay loop does take some time to get used to.
1 Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare
While Red Dead Redemption 2 is the more recent game in the series with more modern graphics and gameplay elements, it never received any DLC expansion as its predecessor did. Undead Nightmare is a non-canon adventure that sees John Marston seeking a cure for the zombie plague that has overtaken the area, with his wife and son having been afflicted by the curse.
Besides some new enemies, equipment, and mythical creatures to hunt, Undead Nightmare also features five special horse mounts, the four horses of the apocalypse and the unicorn, who all have different abilities.
