The partnership between Call of Duty and Mountain Dew is still going strong. Longtime fans of CoD are probably aware of the union between the brands. Mountain Dew and Doritos get sleek packaging promoting the latest CoD game, and players of that game get some kind of boost for buying the snacks. That promotion is returning for the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern WarfareIn fact, fans can already cash in for an exclusive operator skin.

The typical reward for buying specially-branded Mountain Dew is double multiplayer XP in the current Call of Duty game. That program will continue for Modern Warfare. Players can actually already redeem codes from the drinks at this site even though the game hasn't released yet. They can even claim an exclusive operator skin, which will be rewarded the first time a code is entered from a can of Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel.

It has to be Amp Game Fuel to get the exclusive operator skin. The other products will only offer double XP. Furthermore, the amount of double XP offered depends on size. A single Mountain Dew or small bag of Doritos only rewards 15 minutes of double XP. Packs of Mountain Dew and larger Doritos bags will give anywhere from 30-60 minutes. On the plus side, all of them are eligible for a special contest that awards winners a full year of double XP.

There is good news for those who fear for the safety of their teeth when faced with so much Mountain Dew consumption: the operator skin is a timed exclusive. The promotional site lists December 31 as the end date. Presumably the skin will be available through the battle pass (totally not loot boxes you guys!) after that date. As for the double XP, that's just an advantage others are going to have.

The future of gaming is being called into question recently. Blizzard's actions have made many question just how much control the Chinese government has over gaming's biggest companies. Consumers eat up microtransactions, even as they criticize them heavily on social media. Among it all, there's something comforting in knowing that Mountain Dew and Call of Duty are still going strong. They're like that old married couple that seems to have it all figured out. Maybe heavily-processed junk food and stereotypical FPS gameplay are the secret to lasting happiness after all.
