New World received a big content update yesterday. For many players dissatisfied with the direction the game has been going, this patch was make or break. The patch was supposed to have revamped New World's end-game by adding Expedition Mutations with new gear and a better means of increasing a player's gear and expertise to maximum. Unfortunately, it didn't exactly do that. Not only that, it seems to have introduced a whole bunch of bugs to the game.

We've got Reddit user Bocika to thank for this running tally of everything that arrived broken in yesterday's patch. The biggest issue seems to be a bug that has completely messed up everyone's inventory. Amazon Games has acknowledged the issue stems from items not stacking properly, "causing the unique item limit to be reached before the intended limit as well as players unable to craft with materials in storage." The devs are working on a fix for this as their highest priority.

Along with the item issues, players initially couldn't chat in the global channel, but that seems to have been fixed. Person-to-person trading is also broken thanks to the item issue, and many players are reporting problems with being double-taxed on their property.

But it was the Mutated Expeditions themselves that were the biggest disappointment. Instead of providing drops with gear score in the 590 to 625 range, players are instead finding items with gear score of a mere 500. Add to the measly amount of Umbral Shards players receive for completing a Mutated Expedition and the massive quantity required for upgrading your gear, and players are calling this update a complete bust.

Oh, and let's not forget reports of increased crashes, which is never a good look for a patch that was supposed to have spent weeks on the public test server.

"No man, this isn't a rough patch, there is something fundamentally wrong with those in charge and the ones that thought launching this beta game was appropriate," argued Reddit user Valentino-Spice. "As someone who works with client-facing tech, I wouldn't dare subject this level of service to them, I would feel morally wrong about it."

There’s not much to be done for New World players other than waiting for Amazon to pick up the pieces. And for many, that’s probably too little, too late.
