Fallout 76’s pre-beta will be available to certain Xbox One pre-orders later this week.
Last we reported on the Fallout 76 beta, we were told that it’d happen sometime in October for anyone who pre-ordered the game, but we weren’t given much in terms of details. Flash forward to today and we still don’t have a whole lot of details, but we do have details about the pre-beta “Stress Test” that will begin this October 13th.
That’s a Saturday, so you won’t even need to call in sick to work.
But, there’s a catch. Bethesda is quick to stress in their FAQ that this is not the beta test, and as such there are going to be a lot of restrictions.
First, this is only going to be available to Xbox Insiders, so if you’re not a member of that exclusive organization (which you can get details on how to install the app and sign up here) then you’re out of luck. You’ll also need to have an Xbox Live Gold account since Fallout 76 is a multiplayer game.
Since this is just a stress test and not a beta, there won’t be any save transfers or achievements. Once the stress test is over, your character will be deleted along with whatever progress you've made. The stress test is also going to be an early version of the game and might not even bear any resemblance to the beta version of Fallout 76 when it finally gets announced.
Also, not everyone who pre-ordered and not everyone who’s a member of Xbox Insider will get in on the pre-beta. Xbox Insiders will be randomly selected to take part in the stress test. To find out if you’ve been selected, launch the Xbox Insider Hub and look for “Fallout 76 Stress Test” under the Insider Content tab. If it’s there, then congratulations! You’ve been selected and can click “Join” to play.
For those that ordered the physical copy of the game, you can check your Transaction History for the Xbox One code, and then log in to Bethesda.net to see if your account was selected.
Oh, and this is only for folks in North America that speak English. Sorry, Quebec.
