Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout developer Mediatonic will be opening a new UK studio in Leamington Spa, which will be headed by the company’s vice president of art, Phil Warner. The studio is reportedly planning on recruiting staff across a "wide range of disciplines."

Mediatonic, which has studios in London, Brighton, Guildford, and Madrid, says the newest site will be an "important complement" to their brand that will support Fall Guys' ongoing development. "Mediatonic's new studio will operate under COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines while they’re in place, but the team are eager to warmly welcome new faces once everything’s fully open," a press release stated.

The company added that they have “a long-term commitment to creating engaging seasonal content for the Fall Guys playerbase.” It also reportedly has a number of other projects in the works, which it hopes will attract those “looking to take their next step in games with Mediatonic."

Fall Guys, which launched on August 4, has since sold 10 million copies on Steam and has become the most downloaded PS Plus title in history. Within 24 hours of release, the game had attracted over 1.5 million players. Shortly after launch, Mediatonic announced a fundraiser in which the brand that donated the most money to SpecialEffect, a charity that specializes in helping physically disabled people play video games, would be rewarded with a custom skin featured in the game.

The platformer battle royale game was inspired by game shows like Takeshi's Castle, It's a Knockout, and Wipeout, as well as playground games like tag and British bulldog. According to Superdata, the game's digital revenue for PC in its first month amount to $185 million, making it the biggest PC launch since Overwatch. Publisher Devolver Digital recently announced that it had hired a head of licensing that was expected to put Fall Guys "on the licensing map."

According to the press release, Mediatonic’s new studio will follow COVID-19 protocols for the time being, but plans on immediately incorporating new staff members once the studio is fully open. As of June 2020, Mediatonic employs 230 people and is part of Tonic Games Group.
