For the third time in a row, Fallen Legion: Rise To Glory pits Laenur and his band of (growing) Exemplars against, you guessed it, a rival Exemplar. This time you will be facing off against the legendary archer, Apollon. This is the third ranged Exemplar Laenur will gain access to, heavily skewing the kind of party you can bring in the immediate future.

Apollon, interestingly enough, is probably the easiest Exemplar you have thought so thus far. Dardanelles was a damage-dealing monster, and Zulfiqar was a tank speedster. Apollon ends up being sort of in the middle. His attacks are pretty interesting though, which gives him a bit of an ace up his sleeve.

Apollon’s Attacks

Fallen Legion Rise To Glory Apollon attacking Zulfiqar

Apollon doesn’t have many attacks, but the attacks he does have, are a pain to deal with. He often attacks in quick succession with pauses awkwardly placed between each shot. Not only that, but those pauses change as well, making it even harder to get to grips with his pattern. Throw in his unique Deathblow, and Apollon has quite the toolbelt.

Attack

Explanation

Counter

Single Shot

Apollon fires a single shot that deals low damage.

This is Apollon’s most basic attack, and it is basically used as a mix-up attack. This attack will be thrown into the mix to keep you on your toes between his other, more powerful attacks. It can be reflected like any other ranged attack, and this opens Apollon up to some bonus damage on the counter.

Multiple Shot Combo

Apollon fires up to five arrows at the party, pausing for varying lengths between each shot.

This is Apollon’s best attack simply because it has nightmarish timing. Once the attack ends, you can move in for a counter, and the damage inflicted will increase if the last arrow is reflected.

Falcon Feign

Apollon jumps into the air and fires an arrow at the party. The Exemplar hit takes damage and has its defences lowered.

This attack increases Apollon’s damage, which is a big deal since Apollon’s damage, at base, is pretty manageable. With Falcon Feign active, however, Apollon can burn Exemplars surprisingly quickly - especially if he is using his Multi-Shot. The attack moves fairly slowly, and it has a very clear windup so blocking the attack is not too difficult.

Apollon’s Mechanics

Falcon Feign is the only unique mechanic Apollon has to his name, but it’s a doozy. You don’t want to get hit by this. If you do, then consider moving your party around to counter it. The best solution is to simply block it, however. Its timing is fairly generous, and the attack is well telegraphed.

Which Exemplars To Take

You don’t have access to many Exemplars (yet), but there are some choices that can be made. For the party, we recommend running Zulfiqar, Winchester, and Dardanelles. This team is a solid all-rounder. Zulfiqar is an excellent tank, and his Link Attack can be used to reflect all of Apollon’s projectiles without having to time your blocks. Dardanelles and Winchester are powerful ranged units that can deal damage without having to expose themselves.

Battle Strategy

The strategy here is not too complicated - hit Apollon until he dies. The best way to do this is to save Zulfiqar’s AP so he has access to his Link Attack at all times. This makes reflecting Apollon’s Multi-Shot much easier as Zulfiqar will tank most of the arrows on his way to attack.

In the meantime, use Winchester and Dardanelles to fire off their attacks from a distance. Both do excellent damage, and Dardanelles’ Gravity Embrace can disrupt Apollon, interrupting his animations.

So long as you are patient and use Zulfiqar and co. effectively, you should get through this fight without taking too much damage. Don't be stingy when it comes to Mana either. Daffyd's Spear deals great damage, and healing should be easy to come by since you will be attacking regularly with your ranged Exemplars.

With Apollon down, he joins your party and you are free to move on to your next challenge - Manticore.
