The Endurance special stat in Fallout 4 has many uses — mainly boosting your HP, radiation resistance, and damage resistance. It's easy to overlook the endurance stat initially while you're creating your character, since it doesn't focus on any particular weapon; however, the damage resistance bonuses that you can gain from this perk tree are very powerful.

If you want to survive in the Commonwealth, then you'll probably want to learn about the different perks that you can unlock with the Endurance special stat.

10 Rad Resistant

There are four tiers of the Rad Resistant perk, and as the name implies, they each give you a +10 damage protection toward radiation damage. Radiation is common throughout the Commonwealth, and it affects the amount of health you have, so taking this perk is useful, especially in survival mode.

However, the Rad Resistant perk isn't nearly as useful for most players as a lot of the other Endurance perks in the game, which is why a lot of players don't ever even consider unlocking it.

9 Aquaboy

fallout 4, large lake during daytime

The Aquaboy perk is interesting; however, it isn't useful for the majority of builds that you can create in Fallout 4. This perk makes it so that you can stay underwater indefinitely, which could be helpful for a stealth build if you enjoy questing and defeating enemies on the East side of the Commonwealth.

The Aquaboy perk also makes it so that you're undetectable while you're underwater and gives you immunity to radiation while you're swimming in irradiated water.

8 Lead Belly

fallout 4, stack of food

For survival mode, Lead Belly is one of the best perks in the game because it takes away the amount of radiation that you get by eating foods that normally deal radiation damage. However, most players don't usually eat a lot of food outside of survival mode since stimpacks are a much quicker way to restore your lost health.

As such, you can avoid the Lead Belly perk unless you're playing on survival mode or have a ton of extra food sitting around in your inventory.

7 Adamantium Skeleton

fallout 4, sole survivor inside of vault

The Adamantium Skeleton perk has an effect that can be very useful depending on how you personally play Fallout 4. This perk makes it harder for you to break your limbs, which is helpful if you get hit a lot during combat.

The reason that this perk is situational is that some players prefer to fight from a distance using weapons such as sniper rifles and assault rifles, while some players prefer to fight up close using powerful melee weapons and submachine guns. Depending on your play style, the Adamantium Skeleton perk could be exactly what you need to excel in combat.

6 Ghoulish

A ghoul face during character creation in Fallout 4

Although you can't become a Ghoul in Fallout 4, the Ghoulish perk is the next best thing. This perk allows you to regenerate lost health while you are taking radiation damage, which effectively turns radiation damage into a positive instead of a negative.

After unlocking the final tier of this perk, your radiation level will reduce by itself while exploring the Commonwealth; however, this effect will happen very slowly. The Ghoulish perk is useful for you regardless of which difficulty you're playing on.

5 Life Giver

HP is the most important stat in Fallout 4; when this stat depletes to 0, you will be defeated and have to start over from a save game file. The Life Giver perk grants +20 HP per level, and at the final tier of this perk, your health will start to regenerate by itself.

The Life Giver perk is useful for every type of build; however, it is particularly helpful while playing on survival mode since you die much quicker to attacks, and the extra health is an immense help for staying alive.

4 Cannibal

fallout 4, cannibal character outside

Cannibals are common in the Fallout franchise, and your character can become one of them. Once you unlock the Cannibal perk, you can feast upon the bodies of dead humans, and doing this will restore health to your character. At the second tier of this perk, you can also consume Ghoul and Super Mutant meat.

Similar to the Life Giver perk, Cannibal is most useful for a survival difficulty playthrough since restoring your health is hard in survival mode. Be careful not to eat a dead body around your companion, though; you will lose reputation with most of them if you use the cannibal perk while they are following you.

3 Chem Resistant

Jet from fallout 4

One of the strongest types of items for combat in Fallout 4 are chems. Chems have many different effects, including slowing time, boosting your special stats, and granting you unique damage bonuses. The Chem Resistant perk is useful if you regularly consume chems in Fallout 4 because it completely takes away the risk of chem addiction once every tier of this perk is unlocked.

Addiction to chems in Fallout 4 gives you multiple negative effects, so unlocking the Chem Resistant perk is essential if you enjoy using these items.

2 Toughness

fallout 4, characters wearing combat armor

There are many different ways to boost your damage resistance in Fallout 4, and Toughness is the easiest way to do so. After taking all five tiers of the Toughness perk, you will have +50 damage resistance, which can completely change the way that you fight during combat.

Although unlocking every tier of the Toughness perk may not seem worthwhile at first glance, the damage resistance will aid you throughout your entire playthrough, especially if you partake in close combat using melee or unarmed weapons.

1 Solar Powered

The Solar Powered perk grants you multiple powerful bonuses. The first effect grants you extra strength and endurance points between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The second effect that this perk unlocks is restoring your health while you're outside during the daytime. The Solar Powered perk can also heal your radiation damage while you're in the sun.

Although the Solar Powered perk won't always be active, most players tend to sleep or wait until daytime, so you will most likely gain these benefits during the majority of your Fallout 4 playthrough.
