Curie is a fan favorite of the Fallout 4 companions. She is a robot with a heart of gold. She is like an angel in the wasteland, always concerned for the well-being of others and to learn as much as she can about the world.
She is a companion you can get during your exploration of Vault 81. Believe it or not, she is also romancable! This is because her personal quest is to get her a synth body. A synth body makes her basically just like a human. Here are ten facts about this great companion you may have never learned.
10 She Is Multilingual
You can only learn this if you take Curie to Diamond City and to the Japanese speaking robot that serves noodles, Takahashi. If you pay attention, she will actually speak Japanese back to Takahashi. She says "Watashi wa Curie desu," (Meaning "I am Curie).
So that means she speaks three different languages: English, Japanese, and French!
9 She Perfected A Panacea Capable Of Curing Every Disease That Afflicted Humanity
This is a major accomplishment that is quite downplayed in the game. Curie developed a cure for every single kind of human disease! An "panacea" is a remedy. That means it is a single remedy that can basically cure any human illness.
This was the point of Vault 81 in the first place, and she actually made it happen. Most Vault experiments go terribly, but Curie make it work. She also managed to do it all alone, as she did not develop the panacea until after the rest of the scientists died out due to old age.
8 She Talks To The Various Doctors In The Commonwealth
Curie is quite friendly, and she won't hesitate to talk to other NPCs while you are walking around. If she meets other doctors, she will actually ask them doctor-related questions.
It can be pretty funny. For example, she may ask what university they attended. Obviously, they respond with utter confusion. Universities don't exist anymore! For a very smart character, Curie can certainly seem dense in other cases.
7 Her Personality Is Influenced By Some Of The Worlds Greatest Intellectuals
Marie Curie, Michael Faraday, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Alexander Braun, Immanuel Kant, Max Born, and Alan Turing's works were all uploaded into Curie when she was created. That is a lot of information! With all of that at her disposal, it is no wonder she was able to create a cure for all human disease.
So if you ever want to get close to how smart Curie is, you would have to read every essay and book written by these scientists.
6 Her Personality Is Also Based On A Woman Named Liza
Besides having her personality based on some of the greatest minds in history, Curie's personality is also based on a random pre-war woman named Liza.
Dr. Kenneth Collins was the Vault scientist who created Curie. He decided to give her personality traits from Liza, a woman he had a grad school fling with back in '46.
5 She Thinks Covenant Looks Cute But Hates Going Inside
Fans have debated whether this is an error in Curie's code or just a paradox in her nature. If she sees Covenant from the outside, she will comment on how cute it is. After completing the SAFE test and going inside though, she will disapprove.
Was she just being polite or was her comment or disapproval not supposed to happen?
4 She Likes The Brotherhood Of Steel . . . Sort Of
The Brotherhood of Steel is the same as Covenant for Curie. She approves once you join them. However, if you stick around too long . . . she will begin to disapprove of the choices involved with the Brotherhood of Steel. For example, she hates it if you kill off the Railroad.
This is interesting, as she may slowly develop different feelings about a faction over time. That is something she and the player have in common. She may like the Brotherhood at first for their love of science. However, she will later dislike them when their anti-synth feelings are more revealed.
3 She Can Wear Bowler Hats Like Codsworth
Certain robots can wear certain hats! Curie and Codworth are both quite similar so they can wear the same kind of hats. This means bowler hats!
Unfortunately, it seems to just be bowler hats. If you want more hats, then you will have to settle for mods. You can also just complete Curie's side quest and make her a synth. Then she can wear any hat you want! It is also good to know that the bowler hat will not have any affect on Curie's stats while she is still a Miss Nanny bot. It is purely for looks.
2 She Has Unusually High Health For A Companion
Curie's health sets her apart from other companions. Her health is fixed rather than dependent on your level. So she is a powerhouse in terms of health. To get into specifics, she has 440 health as a Miss Nanny and 670 as a synth.
To give you an idea of how much health that actually is, Codsworth will not have as much health as Miss Nanny Curie until the player reaches level 49!
1 Some NPCs Will Still Comment Like She Is A Robot After She Becomes a Synth
This is an obvious error. Once you complete Curie's personal mission and she becomes a synth, not all NPCs will recognize that. They will comment as though she is still a Miss Nanny bot. The NPCs who most notably make this mistake are Diamond City Security.
Fallout 4 is just a big game, so this doesn't surprise most players. Little things like NPCs recognizing your companion situation can fall through the cracks during the games' development. This is especially common for the Fallout the Elder Scroll games.
