Zion Canyon is present in the Honest Hearts DLC for Fallout New Vegas. Players can experience this scenic area, and it is quite large, with a lot of content to explore, including new locations, enemies, and characters.

With such a large new open-world area comes a ton of new content that players will inevitably miss while adventuring inside of Zion Canyon and completing the quest in the DLC. Players missed unique dialogue, secret stories, and some interesting tidbits about this location, which is no surprise since Obsidian handcrafted it so perfectly and added such a rich backstory to the area.

10 Zion Canyon Is One Of The Only Locations In The Fallout World That Isn't Heavily Irradiated

Post-apocalyptic America was greatly affected by radiation after the Great War, and most locations that fans have gotten a chance to visit in the world are heavily irradiated.

Most players don't realize that Zion Canyon is one of the only confirmed places to not have been affected by the bombs in a large way, and this is evident by the terrain's appearance and the buildings that are almost unaffected from the blasts.

9 Randall Clark's Story

Randall Clark is also known as the "Survivor" and he is one of the most interesting characters in the Fallout universe ever, despite the fact that players didn't even get a chance to meet or speak to this character.

Randall Clark had to endure losing his family to the bombs and then hiding out in Zion Canyon, where he survived for quite a long time. Players can find Randall Clark's stash in the DLC, and it is worth learning more about this character because he has one of the most in-depth backstories in the Fallout franchise to date.

8 Zion Canyon Was The First Region In The Franchise To Have Rainfall

Rain was added in Zion Canyon to give it a unique feel and make it seem largely separate from the Mojave Wasteland. Players got to experience the different weather, and it made Zion Canyon all the more beautiful, which players weren't expecting since it is already such a scenic location.

Zion Canyon was actually the first location in the Fallout franchise to have rainfall, which is one of the reasons why this open-world area is such a major deal in the series.

7 The Happy Trails Caravan Company Is Affected By What Happens To Zion Canyon

The Happy Trails Caravan Company is initially met when the player is first starting the Honest Hearts DLC.

The Happy Trails Caravan Company members that are traveling with the player will all die at the beginning of the DLC; however, that is not the end of their organization altogether. Depending on how Zion Canyon is affected at the end of the DLC, this company will either prosper for years to come or be destroyed by a lack of funds.

6 Zion Canyon Is Roughly 1/4 The Size Of The Mojave Wasteland

Zion Canyon is only 1/4 of the size of the Mojave Wasteland; however, that is actually quite large when players consider that it is a DLC area.

A lot of players don't realize the size of Zion Canyon and assume it to be either smaller or larger because they never get to see the full scope of the canyon itself since they are often traveling underneath the mountains that are present in Zion Canyon.

5 Unique Dialogue With Joshua Graham

Unique dialogue with the character Joshua Graham is often missed by players either because they aren't part of Caesar's Legion or because they haven't gone to a certain part in the main story.

The most notable dialogue that players can have with Joshua Graham is explaining what is happening in the Mojave Wasteland, specifically if Caesar is dead. Joshua Graham will then show his expression for Caesar's death, which is very interesting to hear.

4 It Takes 14 Days To Travel Between Zion Canyon And The Mojave Wasteland

The amount of time that it takes to travel between Zion Canyon and the Mojave Wasteland is a mystery to most players because they aren't counting the specific days in which the DLC takes place.

It actually takes 14 days to travel between these two regions, which means that the Courier is probably very tired after their long walk to this large open area. It's easy to miss this since most players aren't especially observant about the date in Fallout New Vegas.

3 There Are Dogs In Zion Canyon That Are Peaceful

The dogs in Zion Canyon are mostly wild and do not have any master to speak of. This is an especially rare occurrence because most dogs in the Fallout universe will attack anybody or anything that comes near them.

Most of the dogs in Zion Canyon are not a threat to the player, and as such, they should be left alone to live a peaceful life in Zion Canyon, especially if the player is role-playing a moral character build. It's easy to miss these dogs because they aren't a very common occurrence.

2 Zion Canyon Is A National Park In Real Life

In real life, Zion Canyon is a National Park that tourists are able to visit. A lot of players don't realize that this location in the Fallout world is based around a location that has existed for a long time in the real world.

Zion Canyon is just as beautiful in real life as it is in Fallout New Vegas, and fans can expect a similar terrain if they research about the canyon in the real world.

1 Feral Ghouls Once Inhabited Zion Canyon

Feral Ghouls inhabited Zion Canyon at some point after the Great War; however, it is revealed that Randall Clark drove them off or killed them all.

This is an interesting fact because it calls into question why there aren't other mutants inside of Zion Canyon since Feral Ghouls were able to find their way in. It could even make sense if Super Mutants or animal-based mutants were present in this canyon since it isn't too long of a walk from more irradiated areas.
