Spider-Man: No Way Home hit cinemas last week and has broken all sorts of records during its first weekend. The movie made more from ticket sales during its first weekend than any other movie in history apart from its MCU buddy, Avengers: Endgame. One of the biggest talking points among those who have already seen it is what they want to see happen next.

Spoiler warning: If you haven't seen No Way Home and you don't want it spoiled, then stop reading here.

No Way Home producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal have already revealed Tom Holland's Spider-Man has signed on for three more Spidey movies. They've also revealed development on whatever will come next has already begun. However, what that something is and whether it will include the heroes and villains who re-emerged during No Way Home remains a mystery.

One of the highlights of No Way Home was the performance of Andrew Garfield who donned his red and blue suit for the first time since The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Fans were so enamored with Garfield's performance that social media has been flooded with requests for Sony to greenlight The Amazing Spider-Man 3. So much so that the potential threequel's name was trending over the weekend. Reviewers were not very kind to the first two movies which is one of the reasons why the series didn't continue.

Marvel and Sony now have the perfect opportunity to pen a third movie should they choose to do so. Garfield's Spider-Man was sent back to the universe from whence he came at the end of No Way Home. There doesn't appear to be a reason why that universe can't be the same one in which Venom resides, or the one Morbius will call home when that movie debuts in 2022.

As journalist Matt Ramos tweeted amid all the talk of an Amazing Spider-Man 3 over the past few days, the potential next chapter in Garfield's story could quickly become the new Snyder Cut. Regardless of what's next for any of our three Spider-Men, it's probably going to be a while before we see any of them again. A long time for Holland, and maybe never for Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
