Spider-Man 2 fans are hoping the devs will take more elements from the Batman: Arkham series to give the sequel a sense of a living world with real consequences. The players discussed one particular feature that can add greatly to the follow-up’s interactive systems — an accessible supervillain prison.

With Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games already seems to be taking steps in the right direction to assure the sequel will be even greater than the original. With its two protagonists, the next chapter might set a new bar for the superhero open-world genre, and, naturally, Marvel fans already have some ideas about how to make this happen.

Redditor daredevilman999 started a debate about the most desirable features for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game will presumably have many more supervillains than Venom and (possibly) Kraven the Hunter — pretty much like Batman: Arkham Knight. The fan hopes that Insomniac’s next project will add a feature from Rocksteady’s, where you can visit the jail with the villains you defeat. In his mind, it would additionally motivate the players to progress through the story and to face the consequences of their actions with some intriguing dialogue.

The fans were quick to support the initial idea, and many more suggestions for Spider-Man 2 followed. For example, in players’ opinion, the next installment could add some sort of hero reputation system, which would depend on the number of captured villains. Such a system would diversify the criminal life of New York and would motivate to clear the streets of regular bandits.

While the idea of interacting with your defeated bosses might sound interesting for Spider-Man 2, many in the community think it could never really work. Some fans noted the system isn’t in line with Spidey who can’t just randomly go visit the R.A.F.T. facility to check on his enemies. Considering Spider-Men rarely has a tight connection to the police, unlike Batman, both Peter Parker or Miles Morales couldn’t simply get access to the secured prison.

Whatever new mechanics Spider-Man 2 might possess, we can only speculate about them for quite some time — the game will arrive at least in 2023. In the meantime, Rocksteady has been busy with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for several years now, and hopefully will show the progress for the DC project soon.
