Ubisoft’s latest iteration on the Far Cry series brings you to the island of Yara, looking to break the nation free of the tyrannical grip of dictator Anton Castillo. Playing as Dani Rojas, you’re tasked with bringing the freedom fighters of Yara together under one banner, Libertad, to fully liberate the island.
As is the case in most revolutions, blood will be spilled. The Far Cry series isn’t a stranger to intense gun action and Far Cry 6 continues the trend. There are countless FND soldiers for you to mow down on your quest for freedom, but what are the best ways to do so? These are the best guns in Far Cry 6 that will have Dani Rojas feeling like an unstoppable freight train.

13 FAL
A standard assault rifle, the FAL is one of the best starting weapons to have in Far Cry 6. The rifle deals decent damage with above-average accuracy and good velocity. With a magazine size of 20 bullets, you’ll be able to take down a few FND soldiers with precise aiming before having to reload.
When you gain access to the workbench, it’s important to equip a silencer to avoid detection. While Far Cry 6 is certainly an action game and there’s a time and place to go in guns blazing, stealth remains a vital component in the game. Ultimately, the FAL is one of the most reliable rifles in the game and it’s perfect for beginners.
12 MS16S
Although you unlock various weapons throughout the game, you’ll only have the option of equipping three weapons at a time. Depending on the playstyle you use, there are a few different combinations you can have. Other than an assault rifle, it’s usually a good idea to have something more suited for long-range, and if you don’t have a sniper just yet, the MS16S is a solid replacement.
The single-shot rifle can act as a poor man’s sniper with its extremely high velocity and above-average accuracy and handling. And just like most other guns, it’s in your benefit to equip a silencer to avoid detection.
11 Rococo Loco
While traversing across Yara, odds aren't very high that you'll ever use a pistol (why would you with rocket launchers, snipers, and rifles?), but if you ever do, then the Rococo Loco is the proper choice. The Rococo Loco automatic pistol operates essentially like a smaller SMG with a large magazine and an incredibly high fire rate.
Although it's only a sidearm pistol, the Rococo Loco still packs a solid punch and can be quite handy as a last resort. Because the Rococo Loco is a unique weapon, it cannot be altered or modified on the Work Bench. The automatic pistol can be obtained from the Los Bandidos mission called Benito Bang Bang.
10 Yaran SR-A
The Yaran SR-A is one of the most basic sniper rifles in the game, but also one of the most reliable. It has solid stats across all its attributes, making it an extremely balanced weapon. And with a magazine of ten bullets, it has one of the highest magazine counts among sniper rifles in Far Cry 6.
Typically, you’ll want a sniper rifle in your weapon wheel and the Yaran SR-A is a suitable option for most of the early parts of the game. It might seem tempting to bust into FND strongholds guns blazing, but it can be extremely satisfying to sit back and pick off soldiers from a safe distance.
9 La Clavadora
In Far Cry 6, there is a special brand of weapons called Resolver. These weapons possess added benefits not found in standard weaponry and are purchased from Juan Cortez in exchange for depleted uranium, which is typically found near anti-aircraft turrets. Resolver weapons can cause pure chaos on the battlefield.
For players who are exceptional at hitting their shots, the deadly La Clavadora is perfect. This Revolver crossbow fires harpoons that have maxed out damage and velocity, meaning it’s an instant kill on impact. La Clavadora might be a bit difficult to handle, but the crossbow has high accuracy and stealth, allowing you to silently take down soldiers from the shadows.
8 Tostador
After meeting with Clara Garcia and Libertad, Dani Rojas’s first official mission as a guerrilla is burning tobacco fields with Julio. During the mission, you get a sense of Far Cry 6’s potential for intense action by wielding a flamethrower. Throughout the game, you can unlock the flamethrower dubbed Tostador for more reckless chaos.
The added benefit of using Tostador is the way fire impacts the toxin around Yara. When you hit poison crates, trucks, or the hazmat-wearing soldiers, they’ll burst into flame and explode. Using the flamethrower on vehicles can also disable them faster and render them useless.
7 SKS
For players looking for something that rewards accuracy and precision, look no further than the SKS. This high-quality rifle is a single-shot weapon that's suitable at medium to long range. It doesn't carry a large magazine with only ten bullets, but the SKS has a nearly perfect damage rating.
Adding a suppressor to the SKS will have the rifle operating almost like a sniper rifle. While causing immense chaos with explosives and all manner of firepower might seem appealing in Far Cry 6, utilizing stealth can be a better option.
6 .308 Carbine
An upgrade in the sniper department, the .308 Carbine is a mid-tier sniper rifle with very high velocity and above-average stats in handling and accuracy. After you equip it with a silencer, the Carbine is a deadly long-range weapon.
Although the Carbine is a suitable upgrade from the Yaran SR-A, it only has half the magazine size as the Yaran SR-A. With only five bullets at your disposal, it’s even more imperative for you to hit your shots.
5 Supercharger
Have you ever considered a silenced shotgun? No, right? Because being quiet and using a shotgun shouldn't work well together, but lo and behold, we have the Supercharger. This unique shotgun delivers considerable damage at short range and is extremely unreliable from far away, so only bust it out when enemy forces are up in your grill.
There are only seven bullets in the magazine, but with such high damage per shot, that should be plenty to get you out of danger. The Supercharger doesn't have ridiculous recoil and handles fairly well, making this shotgun one of the best unique weapons in the game.
4 RPG-7
Throughout your journey in liberating Yara, you’ll encounter heavily armored tanks, helicopters, and planes that normal guns just won’t cut it against. For situations like these, something a bit beefier is needed to do the job. The RPG-7 is your standard rocket launcher, and it packs enough of a punch to level the battlefield against those highly destructive vehicles.
Adding modifications to your weapons is an important component in gaining an advantage over FND soldiers, and the same is true for rocket launchers. After gaining enough resources, be sure to unlock and equip Nimble Shooter, Gunslinger, and Trigger Discipline. These mods will improve your movement speed while aiming, draw and holster speed, and aimed weapon damage, respectively.
3 El Caballero
Depending on your personal preference, maybe a rocket launcher isn’t your first choice for an explosive weapon that causes catastrophic damage. El Caballero is a grenade launcher that has a perfect damage rating and high, balanced ratings in its other attributes. El Caballero has a magazine size of six, so it’s not like you’ll feel the need to reload constantly.
El Caballero is categorized as a Unique Weapon, which means it cannot be modified on workbenches. The grenade launcher does have a special mod called Reload All that will surely make your time on Yara a whole lot easier. When you reload El Caballero, all of your other weapons will reload as well.
2 SVD
One of the best long-range weapons in the game, the SVD will have you feeling mighty powerful. The sniper boasts extremely high marks in all categories, and while some might consider the MBP .50 as Far Cry 6’s supreme sniper because of its increased damage rating, the SVD has the competition beat with higher ratings in everything else.
To truly unlock the power behind the SVD, be sure to unlock and equip the following modifications: Large Cylindrical Suppressor, Sniper Scope, Resolver Laser Pointer Mk. 2, Nimble Shooter, and High Ground. The suppressor will practically make you invisible shooting from a safe distance and High Ground increases damage to enemies below you.
1 SSGP-58
Arguably the best assault rifle in Far Cry 6, the SSGP-58 brings the pain train to Yara. With near-perfect accuracy, the SSGP-58 also has above-average ratings in every other category, making it one of the best weapons all around.
The SSGP-58 can be further enhanced with the following modifications: Compensator, Resolver Reflex Sight, Laser Pointer, Gut-wrencher, and Trigger DIscipline. Gut-wrencher and Compensator are arguably the best mods to equip in the game, because they increase body shot damage and improve recoil, respectively. You tend to aim for the body when using an assault rifle, so increasing that specific damage will result in Dani Rojas mowing down FND soldiers. All in all, there isn’t a more powerful and balanced weapon in Far Cry 6 than the SSGP-58 assault rifle.
