Ubisoft’s latest entry in the explosive Far Cry series is packed with high-octane action, destructive weaponry, and, of course, loyal animal companions. Far Cry 6 is much of the same for veteran players of the series — something that’s been met with stark criticism since its launch.
Underneath the endless gunfire is a story about the struggles of a country trying to break free from the death grip of a tyrant. After helping liberate Yara and remove the evil Anton Castillo from power, what’s left to do for Dani Rojas? Honestly, quite a lot. These are some things to do after you beat Far Cry 6.

9 Clear More Checkpoints
A trend in Ubisoft games is clearing specific areas or checkpoints on the map to establish fast travel locations. In Far Cry 6, these fast travel areas are mainly in the form of FND checkpoints scattered across Yara. While some checkpoints are already visible on the map, Dani Rojas can discover additional checkpoints from intel provided to them by fellow guerrillas.
To clear a checkpoint, you must eliminate all FND soldiers within the area and sometimes destroy the Anton Castillo billboard. Once you’ve captured the checkpoint, you’ll have access to raid the storage room for guns or supplies and can also request a car or plane, depending on the checkpoint. Clearing more checkpoints will help make traveling around Yara much easier and should be one of the first things you tackle after beating the game.
8 Treasure Hunts
Special missions in Far Cry 6 known as “Treasure Hunts” are represented on the map as a purplish jewel. These missions usually offer a desirable prize for completing them, thus being referred to as Treasure Hunts. Typically, these missions entail traveling to certain locations and solving a puzzle. One particular Treasure Hunt involved chasing a mongoose that had swallowed the key to a storage room.
The majority of Treasure Hunts don’t involve actual combat, like taking on FND forces. The most action you might experience is chasing after the aforementioned mongoose or simply running around the designated area trying to access the loot. Treasure Hunts can be an effective way to wind down after mowing down remaining enemy insurgents in Yara.
7 Guerrilla Missions
After capturing checkpoints, there’s usually a guerrilla stationed that has precious intel for Dani Rojas. This intel might reveal an anti-aircraft turret needing to be removed or a supply drop begging to be intercepted. Sometimes, Dani can find wandering guerrillas with intel around Yara; you’ll know they have information based on the exclamation point icon overhead.
These missions don’t necessarily end, but they’re a solid way of finding new enemy locations to liberate or areas to find quality gear and supplies. Besides being stationed in checkpoints or roaming the island, there are specific guerrilla hideouts that usually have someone with information as well.
6 Grand Premio Races
Whenever you need a break from hunting FND soldiers and liberating various parts of Yara, be sure to check out the Grand Premio Races. These races are mainly accessible by finding flyers scattered across the island. These races feature all sorts of vehicles, from normal cars to horses and even planes.
By winning these races, you’re awarded an assortment of prizes that range from weapons to vehicle modification parts. For completionists, it's worth noting that tackling these Grand Premio Races is the only way to obtain certain items. If nothing else, they can act as a nice pallet cleanser from all the gunfire.
5 Yaran Stories
Another mission type in Far Cry 6 is Yaran Stories. These 29 missions represent your traditional side quests found in most RPGs, indicated on the map by purple icons. Not only do these missions offer good rewards, but they also provide a deeper look into the environment and the people who live in Yara.
Some Yaran Stories might not be available right away, as there are certain requirements needed to unlock the missions. Another benefit of doing these missions is unlocking more Amigos. For example, the Wingman mission line contains three missions that result in you unlocking the feisty rooster Chicharron.
4 Collectibles
Similar to most games, Far Cry 6 contains a large number of collectibles that can be found throughout Yara. These collectibles include USB sticks, roosters, gun charms, items to place on the inside hood of your car, and Bandido leaders. While the majority of these collectibles are solely cosmetic, the roosters can be used in the cockfighting minigame and the Bandido leaders are needed to complete more complex Bandido operations.
Far Cry 6 already has a solid playlist when cruising around Yara, but finding more USB sticks will add songs to be played in vehicles. Collectibles can be found virtually anywhere in Yara, either laying around on random tables and desks or as reward items for completing missions.
3 Insurgency
Although you’ve successfully freed Yara from the clutches of Anton Castillo, that won’t mean the remaining faithful FND soldiers will suddenly surrender. Enemy forces will continue to mobilize across the island trying to wrestle control back, including key figures who will try to rise up in power in the void Anton left behind.
Each week, there will be new missions and Insurgency leaders to fight against to ensure Yara doesn’t fall back into a state of chaos. You receive powerful weapons and gear items for completing these missions. The insurgency area will change each week, and hideouts and checkpoints within the designated area will become unavailable to fast travel to until you retake them from the enemy. Insurgency missions might seem like “more of the same” that you experienced throughout the main campaign, but enemies will be tougher, which will add a bit more of a challenge to the task.
2 Unlock Secret Ending
Much like the other Far Cry games, there is a secret ending in Far Cry 6. Technically, you can achieve the secret ending before beating the game, but it could be a bit more satisfying if you wait before the final showdown against Anton Castillo. After Dani Rojas reaches Libertad Island and they receive a boat from Clara Garcia, you can choose to leave Yara and its troubles behind and sail for a new life in Miami, Florida.
Dani spoke about wanting to escape Yara and start a new life in America, but they were convinced by Clara to help Libertad fight against oppression and free the country from the iron grasp of the Castillos. Instead, Dani chooses to continue on their journey toward a new life and the game will show them sunbathing on a beach in Miami, though it's revealed that Clara was killed by Anton Castillo, thus putting an end to the new resistance.
1 Season Pass DLC
Ubisoft laid out a content map for Far Cry 6 that includes three separate DLC packs that can either be purchased separately or together with the season pass. The DLC pack is titled "Become The Villain" and focused on major Far Cry baddies that have appeared in the series. The first of the three DLC packs launched on November 16, 2021, and it focused on the fan-favorite villain Vaas Montenegro, the antagonist from Far Cry 3.
If you've finished everything in the base game or grown bored with liberating various areas of Yara, you can check out the villain DLC. Many speculated that Vaas Montenegro would return to the Far Cry series after a mysterious clip after the credits allegedly confirmed the villain being alive. The remaining two villain DLC packs are scheduled to launch in January and March of 2022.
