Currently available on Steam Early Access, Farm 51’s survival horror title Chernobylite will arrive in full for next-gen consoles, current-gen consoles, and PC via Steam and GOG in 2021, says publisher All In! Games.

The Farm 51, a Polish video game developer founded in 2005 by Wojciech Pazdur and Kamil Bilczyński, included a series of improvements made to the game in a recent patch but will add further enhancements for the full release. The team originally worked on the Painkiller series at People Can Fly, another Warsaw-based company.

Among the upgrades, the team has promised two quests for the player to undertake as either protagonist, as well as two new levels, extra locations, AI upgrades, and added weapons.

Chernobylite, a science-fiction RPG survival horror game, combines free exploration of the radioactive wasteland, combat with so-called stalkers and unreceptive military personnel, and crafting, which allows players to develop their own equipment and weapons, all while following a non-linear storyline. Players can join forces with stalkers or engage in a fight for survival.

The protagonist in this single-player game is a physicist and former Chernobyl Nuclear Plant employee who returns to the disaster zone 30 years later to search for their partner. The player must not only battle unknown enemies but also chernobylite, a result of the nuclear aftermath.

According to Game Director Artur Fojcik, “Every decision and every new member of the team unlocks a path to new tasks and information but also modifies or closes other paths at the same time. Our goal is that two players would see a completely different Chernobyl landscape after playing the game for a few hours with a different team and different tasks achieved. It’s hard to say to what extent we will implement this vision, but we’re doing well so far.”

The developers created the game's map from 3D scans and recreations of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine. They began a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to complete development on the 3D scanning process. On May 11, 2019, they announced they had exceeded their $100,000 funding goal and raised $206,671 in total from 3,350 backers.
