FaZe Clan has officially stepped into the competitive VALORANT scene, the California-based esports organization revealed today. The organization announced former professional CS:GO player and streamer Jason “JasonR” Ruchelski and former Overwatch League star Corey “Corey” Nigra as the team’s first two members.

Jason “JasonR” Ruchelski rose to prominence in CS:GO, eventually signing with Splyce in December of 2015. The team made an unlikely run to the group stage of the MLG Columbus Major in early 2016, though eventually bowed out of the tournament in 13-16th place.

JasonR was released from the team in July of that year, and next played as a stand-in for OpTic Gaming in 2017. JasonR has since built up a following as a popular CS:GO and VALORANT streamer, broadcasting his gameplay to his 747,000 Twitch followers.

Joining JasonR on FaZe Clan’s VALORANT roster is 21-year-old former Overwatch pro Corey “Corey” Nigra. Corey joined Gladiators Legion, the Overwatch Contenders division of the Los Angeles Gladiators, in February of 2018. The team was released in November of that year, and Corey signed with the Washington Justice shortly after. The star DPS left Washington in May of 2020, revealing his retirement from Overwatch and further pursuit of VALORANT success.

FaZe Clan’s VALORANT team still requires three members to be a full squad. The team will be competing in the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown with stand-ins. The event is set to begin on Friday, June 26th.
