Minecraft Dungeons has very many innovative and new mechanics for players to experience; however, there are also some that unfortunately didn't make it into the final version of the game. Some of these include essential mechanics such as trading, and the lack of them makes the game seem unpolished and rather barren.

Minecraft Dungeons is innovative in so many ways, so the fact that it didn't add these ideas into the game makes it seem like the developers don't know what the dungeon crawler fan base needs. Hopefully, some of these mechanics and features will be added to the game in the future, because they would be perfect for future updates.

10 Platform Cross-Play

The developers have confirmed that cross-play will be coming in the future of Minecraft Dungeons; however, fans are missing out on their chance to use cross-play straight from launch. Hopefully, cross-play will be added soon, because fans are itching to get to play with all their friends on different consoles and platforms.

When cross-play does come to Minecraft Dungeons, it will most likely include every platform that the game is currently on, and that is excellent news because the game has been ported to many different platforms already. Minecraft Dungeons is currently available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

9 Player Home

Player homes are a staple in many different types of video games, and they would fit very well into Minecraft Dungeons, especially considering that it is based on Minecraft.

Players could collect trophies and place them in their homes and then bring their friends into their unique abode to show off all of their shiny trinkets. Furniture drops would be a perfect thing to add to Minecraft Dungeons, because it would add more replayability to the game in general. Fans are looking forward to potential player housing coming to the game in the future.

8 Crafting

Crafting is a main staple in the original Minecraft, and as such, it would be nice to see some form of crafting incorporated into Minecraft Dungeons in a future update.

Crafting wouldn't be hard to incorporate, because fans would be able to craft different types of weapons and armor and also improve upon equipment that they already have. Crafting would be the perfect feature to add to Minecraft Dungeons, and fans were upset when they didn't see it in the game at launch.

7 Wither Boss

The Wither is a boss in Minecraft, and it was disappointing that it didn't show up within Minecraft Dungeons at the end of a dungeon. There are expansion packs on the way for Minecraft Dungeons, however it would have been great to see this iconic boss right on the launch day of the game.

Fans can still hold out hope that the Wither boss will eventually make its way to the dungeon crawler, but there is currently no guarantee that it is coming in the future.

6 Online Matchmaking

Online matchmaking was unfortunately not present in Minecraft Dungeons at all, and the developers decided not to add it because they didn't think that it would be kid-friendly.

For players that were hoping to play with random teammates, this was an upsetting mechanic to be missing entirely from the game. It is still possible that online matchmaking will make its way into Minecraft Dungeons within the future of the game, and fans are hoping that it eventually does.

5 A Good Narrative

There was a very basic narrative in Minecraft Dungeons; however, it lacked many things, such as developed characters and long cut scenes. Future expansions could expand upon the story to an extent and add a more lovable cast of characters into the game. The plot is very brief and boring, which led fans to dislike the narrative altogether.

There was practically only one character in Minecraft Dungeons, the Arch-Illager, and many disappointed fans were looking forward to the developers expanding upon the lore of the Minecraft world. Hopefully, future expansions will right this wrong.

4 Mining

Similar to crafting, mining was not present in Minecraft Dungeons at launch. Mining could be incorporated into the game by allowing players to use their weapon to pick up ores that they could then use to craft upgrades for their weapons and armor.

Mining would be especially perfect if specific tools were incorporated into the game that would allow for enchantments, such as allowing the player to harvest multiple ore items from a single block.

3 End Game Content

End game content was somewhat present within Minecraft Dungeons in the form of two extra difficulties and a few secret dungeons; however, there isn't much new to see after beating the game for the first few times, which is a quick process.

There are many different pieces of unique armor, weapons, artifacts, and items to obtain. But besides that, the game feels very barren after around ten hours played. More end game content will be coming to the game in the form of paid DLC, but fans were hoping that they would get more out of their initial experience, and that unfortunately didn't come to fruition.

2 Trading Between Players

Trading is not present between friends in Minecraft Dungeons, and that is disappointing for players that get a unique item that their friend would make better use of. This is a mechanic that could be easily be added in the future through an update.

Fans are hoping that trading comes at some point, because it severely lacks in Minecraft Dungeons, and not being able to trade with other players makes the game annoying very quickly.

1 End Dragon Boss

Similar to the Wither boss, the Ender Dragon boss is not in Minecraft Dungeons in any capacity. Enderman did make their way into the final version of the game, however the giant dragon is not present.

The End Dragon is a well-known boss in Minecraft Dungeons, and there a few other enemies that fans know and love as much as this one. The End Dragon will hopefully be added through an expansion pack as either a boss or some kind of new enemy for players to take down.
