Ferrara, the candymaker responsible for iconic brands such as Trolli, Laffy Taffy, and the largest producer of candy corn, has partnered with Sony to create a Ghostbusters AR video game. The mobile title is free-to-play, and you'll be eligible to win a bunch of great Sony products just for catching a few pesky ghosts.

The game is called The Haunted Candy Hunt and, oddly enough, it isn't available on either the App Store or Google Play Store. Instead, you'll need to head over to its official website using your smartphone. From there you'll enter in a few details before your screen is turned into a ghost-infested version of your surroundings. Simply aim your proton pack at the supernatural beings haunting your vicinity, then drag them over to a teleporter to lock them away for good. It's a cute Halloween game for kids that's bound to make the holiday a bit more enjoyable, as this year's normal trick-or-treating experience will likely be impacted by the global public health crisis.

"While Halloween may look different this year, now more than ever consumers are sekeing out new ways to enjoy Halloween traditions and celebrate the season," said Mariah Havens, Senior Brand Manager of Seasonal Marketing. "This year, we're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures and the iconic Ghostbusters franchise to offer a virtual spin on the classic neighborhood trick-or-treating experience."

There's also a chance you'll win some expensive Sony products, including a Sony Home Theater Package that comes with a 55" Sony 55X900H TV, PlayStation 4, and WS1 Immersive Wearable Speaker. The 55" TV features a 4K HDR Full Array LED display that's perfectly suited for the upcoming PS5.

The Haunted Candy Hunt was developed by Trigger, a company that specializes in crafting mixed reality experiences. It's previously worked on high-profile AR games and apps for companies such as Lego, Haagen-Dazs, and Pepsi.

Earlier this month it was rumored that Sony was working on its own AR headset, thanks to a new patent for the supposed device. The headset in the paperwork had six cameras total and could wirelessly connect to a PlayStation console. Smartphones and tablets were also listed as supported devices, letting users play mobile games over Bluetooth. Beyond the limited info in the patent, not much is known about this speculative headset.

For now, you can enjoy some Ghostbusting fun on your phone, courtesy of Ferrara and Sony.
