EA has removed Emiliano Sala from French outfit FC Nantes in FIFA 19 following his untimely passing.

The Argentinian forward lost his life in a tragic plane crash after signing for English Premier League side Cardiff for £15 million last month.

Having completed a routine medical to join the Welsh side, Sala returned to France to say goodbye to his friends with the intention of heading back to Cardiff two days later.

However, he never made it back there as his plane went down en route, prompting a lengthy search that yielded nothing. The search was abandoned, but after calls to resume from some of the biggest names in world soccer, a privately-funded search was embarked upon, ultimately leading to the discovery of the 28-year-old's body.

EA Sports has since removed the deceased striker from Nantes in FIFA, also taking him away from packs in FIFA Ultimate Team. The developers have put a permanent price on items pertaining to the player in Ultimate team in order to prevent gamers from selling his card at a very high price, something which unfortunately happens in the FIFA Ultimate Team auction house after a player passes away in real life.

FIFA community,

We are saddened by the passing of Emiliano Sala.

To respectfully honour his legacy, we will be taking the following actions: Sala will be removed from FC Nantes in FIFA, Sala FUT items will no longer be available in packs. Salah's FUT items price ranges will be permanently fixed at their current value.

We again send our sincerest sympathies to his family, Cardiff City, FC Nantes, and his fans all around the world.

The FIFA Team

The above message is shown in-game when a player logs into Ultimate Team.

EA has removed the player from the game out of respect, yet fans don't seem to think it was necessary, judging from comments from various social media outlets.

Sala registered 71 goals and 19 assists in 177 club appearances over the course of his career, which should have continued with Cardiff City. He will be missed.
