FIFA 22 released a whole bunch of numbers after the launch of what could possibly be that last EA football game named after the footballing federation. It's been less than a month since its launch and like every game in the series, not much has changed. A lot of people are still playing it, a lot of people are still buying FUT player packs, and a lot of people are scoring goals.

5,005,872,060 goals have been scored worldwide as of last Friday - almost as many as Norwich have already shipped this season. That's according to a major stats dump that EA recently released. Make sure your defense is ready, because you're going to be attacked by a whole bunch of numbers.

As of Friday , October 22, 21.1 billion matches of FIFA 22 have been played. That's a total of 46 trillion minutes played, with 89 million matches per day. People from over 200 nations have played, with over 15 million of them selecting Paris Saint-Germaine because they're a bunch of cheaters and can't play with any other team! *throws controller*

The Knee Slide celebration is disappointingly the most used celebration, as opposed to Floor Spin which is clearly the best one. 21 million Volta matches have been played, and 58 million club matches. Managers have been chasing Dortmund's Erling Haaland as he's currently the top transfer target, followed by cover star Kylian Mbappe and then Jude Bellingham. Cristiano Ronaldo is at number nine, and Lionel Messi does not feature in the top ten. That makes sense, given 15 million cheaters already have him on their team! *throws second controller*

The last bit of information we got is that 3.1 million new clubs have been created thanks to the game's Create A Club feature.

It looks like it's been a good 22 days for FIFA 22, but perhaps not for EA overall. It appears that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association is no longer happy with the exclusivity that EA holds over football video games. In a recently released statement, the federation said, "FIFA is bullish and excited about the future in gaming and eSports for football, and it is clear that this needs to be a space that is occupied by more than one party controlling all rights."
