The best Bundesliga players in FIFA 22 have been revealed, and there are some usual culprits in there (looking at you, Lewandowski) as well some tweaks and changes compared to last year.

We take a closer look at the 10 highest-rated Bundesliga players, from lowest to highest rated, as well as the changes from their FIFA 21 cards and what might have justified a rating increase or decrease. Debates are always rife whenever FIFA ratings are released, but we'll keep it impartial. Well, as much as we can.

10 Marco Reus - 85

FIFA 22 Marco Reus

Marco Reus retains his 85 rating, but his overall stats have declined since FIFA 21. He's got a big reduction in Pace, down from 80 to 73, and he's lost two on his shooting as well, down from 86 to 84.

His 20/21 season was actually better than the 19/20 season, with a total of 12 goals in all competitions compared to the 9 he scored in the previous season. Obviously, FIFA gets these statistics from multiple facets of gameplay, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense. Moving on.

9 Koen Casteels - 86

FIFA 22 casteels card

Koen Casteels makes a huge jump into the top 10 highest-rated Bundesliga players, going from an 83 rated goalkeeper to an 86.

This, again, makes sense. His performances for Wolfsburg in the previous season have been solid (he achieved 18 clean sheets in 37 appearances), and they're off to a fantastic start in the 21 Bundesliga season. Expect some in-forms for Casteels.

8 Kingsley Coman - 86

FIFA 22 coman card

Kingsley Coman receives a plus two to his rating, jumping from 84 to 86 between FIFA 21 and FIFA 22. The majority of his base stats remain the same, although he's received an increase of plus two to Passing and an increase in Dribbling, Defense, and Physicality.

Coman had a pretty reliable season last year, scoring 8 goals and assisting 15. His top card in FIFA 21 was 96 rated, and it's likely we'll see similar cards in FIFA 22. However, in the first few games of the season and Coman has struggled for minutes.

7 Mats Hummels - 86

FIFA 22 hummels card

Hummels holds his 86 rating, but his pace has dropped down to 56 from 58. The inevitable reduction of pace is something that happens to every player, but it's a shame that Hummel's other consistent qualities - like the 89 Defense rating - haven't made the card usable in previous FIFAs.

Will FIFA 22 be different? Well, probably not, but at least you won't feel too bad about packing Hummels due to the 86 rating. Excellent SBC fodder.

6 Thomas Muller - 87

FIFA 22 muller card

Muller has been an 86 rated card since FIFA 18, but for FIFA 22...he's jumped up to an 87. His pace is slower than ever (all the way down at 67), but his Shooting, Passing and Dribbling stats have all received boosts thanks to his changing playstyle.

Muller's reliability over the past few seasons justifies this minor upgrade. In the 20/21 season, Muller was involved in 39 goal contributions, including 5 in the Champions League. Let's hope the meta has some space for a player like Muller.

5 Leon Goretzka - 87

FIFA 22 goretzka card

Goretzka gets a deserved boost of three rating points, up from 84 to 87 in FIFA 22. Although not the most prolific scorer or provider of assists, he still managed to provide 16 goal contributions last season as well as remaining a complete rock in the middle for Bayern.

His final form on FIFA 21 was a 95 rated CDM card. It's likely Goretzka will hit that sort of level again, as well as being one of the most expensive Bundesliga players at the start of Ultimate Team. Bayern is after another league title and another Champions League title, and there's no doubt that Goretzka will be essential along their path.

4 Erling Haaland - 88

FIFA 22 haaland card

Haaland just can't stop scoring goals, and his massively boosted FIFA 22 card represents the sheer goal-scoring power of this up-and-coming Norwegian super-striker.

89 Pace, 91 Shooting, 80 Dribbling, 88 Physical...yes, this card looks like it might be a bit of a nightmare in FIFA 22. It really depends on how the meta forms over the first couple of months, but if you're looking for sheer power, speed, and plenty of goals, then Haaland is right up there with the best.

3 Joshua Kimmich - 89

FIFA 22 kimmich card

Kimmich is right up there with the best defensive midfielders in the world, although he doesn't always get the praise he deserves. Fortunately, EA has decided that his performance last season justified an increase in rating of 88 to 89.

Kimmich looks like one of the most well-rounded cards in the Bundesliga, maybe in the game. Solid shooting, dribbling, passing, and defensive stats make him a top choice...it's just that 70 pace that might let him down, especially if there are other, speedier CDMs available in the league.

2 Manuel Neuer - 90

FIFA 22 neuer fifa card

As reliable as ever, Neuer's unique style of goalkeeping once again earns him a spot at the top of the Bundesliga player ratings, with a boost to his rating of 89-90 from FIFA 21 to 22.

Goalkeepers are always hard to analyze in FIFA (you might remember the popularity of a certain Nick Pope in FIFA 21 due to his absolutely enormous arms) so we'll have to see what the meta says before choosing the best keeper in the game. Neuer is up there, though.

1 Robert Lewandowski - 92

FIFA 22 lewandowski card

One of the world's greatest goal scorers, Lewandowski overtakes Ronaldo to become the second-highest-rated player in FIFA. And it totally makes sense. Lewandowski scored FORTY-EIGHT goals in the 20/21 season and assisted 9 more. We're six games into the new season and he's already scored 10 goals in 6 appearances.

Here's to another 50 Lewandowski goals this season.
