FIFA 22's early access has begun, and one of the first things you experience is David Beckham happily sat eating his breakfast in Paris, because why not?
FIFA 22 might not officially be here for another week a bit, but the first details about the game have already started to emerge. First from reviewers who managed to bag a copy early, and now through FIFA 22's early access. Rather than jump straight into a match, as has been the case for the past few iterations of FIFA, you will first be asked to create your avatar.
You will then be transported to Paris, which sounds nice, where you'll find David Beckham enjoying a continental breakfast, which sounds even nicer. The former Manchester United star turned pop culture icon is drinking coffee and has a waiter bring him some pancakes. There's also a croissant at the table which in hindsight might have been for me.
Beckham isn't the only footballing icon present in FIFA 22's opening scenes. You'll also stumble upon Eric Cantona feeding some pigeons. EA really missed a trick not having him tend to seagulls instead, although that would have been a little odd considering how far Paris is from the coast. As for what you, Becks, and Cantona are up to, you're all in town for the upcoming Champions League final.
As for how this benefits you the player, it's a way to ease you into the world of FIFA 22. You'll be asked to pass the ball around from time to time as you go to different locations, and even take part in a tackling drill on the cobbled streets of the French capital. Keep your eyes peeled for the waiter who brought Beckham those pancakes. He returns for the drill and isn't afraid to slide in and hack you out despite the hard surface you're playing on.
Elsewhere in FIFA 22, EA has gradually been revealing who will be the game's very best players at launch. Lionel Messi clinched the number one spot with a rating of 93, and players need a rating of at least 85 to guarantee a spot in the top 100. The first season of FUT rewards have also been revealed, with players having to choose between some talented young players via their very first reward.
