EA's gradual reveal of FIFA 22's top-rated players now includes which ones have made the best 100 for this coming year.

Before a new sports game is released in its respective franchise each year, those who will be playing it, and sometimes even those who will appear in it, are given something to have heated discussions about. Player ratings. Some ratings assigned to players in-game are so controversial that the players themselves take it up with the studio responsible for assigning them.

With less than two weeks to go until the launch of FIFA 22, EA is ramping up the reveal of this coming year's player ratings. You can now check out who will be among the 100 highest-rated players in FIFA 22 on EA's site. It includes detailed breakdowns of all 100 players, and as had already been revealed, Lionel Messi is all on his own at number one this year.

The Argentine superstar, who is plying his trade elsewhere for the first time in his senior career, has received a 93 rating from the powers-that-be at EA. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is the second-best player in the world according to FIFA 22, with Cristiano Ronaldo having to settle for joint-third alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Jan Oblak, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe.

At the other end of the top 100, it seems you needed an 85 rating or higher to guarantee your spot among FIFA's elite this year. Three players with an 84 rating did just manage to get in under the wire, though. David Alaba, Nicolo Barella, and Manchester United's Luke Shaw. Elsewhere in the top 100 you'll find the usual suspects. The likes of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Paul Pogba all make the cut.

EA's top 100 reveal should give Ultimate Team players some idea of how they will want their ideal starting 11 to look this coming season. Nothing like the one EA put together and flaunted through Sky Sports as putting N'Golo Kante out on the right is ill-advised, regardless of rating. EA also revealed it will be keeping preview packs in FUT moving forward. The mechanic allows you to see inside of packs before buying them, an attempt by EA to convince the world FUT's packs aren't loot boxes.
