Throughout your pilgrimage in Final Fantasy 10, Yuna will automatically obtain new aeons as part of the storyline. However, there are also a number of optional aeons that you can get if you're willing to put in a little work, and in Yojimbo's case — a lot of money.

We've got a full walkthrough and guide right here of where to find Yojimbo, the pre-requisite battle, and how best to enlist his services so that you're not paying over the odds for this rather pricey guy. Successfully getting Yojimbo will earn you the "It's All About the Money" achievement/trophy.

Note: You will need about 200,000 Gil in order to obtain Yojimbo.

Where to find the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth To Get Yojimbo

Final Fantasy 10 entrance to the cavern of the stolen fayth

Yojimbo can be found in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. You can access this area by taking the northern exit from the Calm Lands. On your first visit, you will have a boss battle with Defender X in this area.

Defender X has no weaknesses, so the best thing to do is to Haste your party and just work on whittling down its HP with your strongest moves. Having Auron use Armor Break and Mental Break is recommended too. Near the end of the battle Defender X will use Mighty Guard, which nullifies each elemental attack once, so watch out for this.

After the battle, when you reach the bridge leading to Mt. Gagazet you need to take a right and go under the bridge into the valley below. There you will find a Save Sphere and the entrance into the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.

Note: Before you head into the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, go east in this valley to find the Rusty Sword needed for Auron's Celestial Weapon.

Cavern of the Stolen Fayth Walkthrough

Final Fantasy 10 Yojimbo's fayth in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth

There are a number of enemies within the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, but the one you really want to watch out for is the Magic Urn. When it comes to these guys, attacking the correct eye (though you never know which one is the correct one until you try) will reward you with a recovery item, but failing to do so will result in a severe attack on your party. Ultimately, it's not really worth it, so we recommend just using Flee instead.

There are also a number of treasure spheres and items you can find in various dead ends on this map, but the one we recommend getting is Al Bhed Primer Vol. XXV, which can be found west from the Save Sphere.

Continue into the cavern and you will eventually be met by Lady Ginnem, an unsent summoner who Lulu was previously the guardian of. You will find yourself entering a battle against Lady Ginnem, who will summon Yojimbo.

Yojimbo isn't hard by any means, but if you do struggle, simply summon an aeon to help out. While he has a decent physical defense, he has a low magic defense, so hit him with plenty of your best magic skills.

After the battle, step onto the teleport pad while facing north and press the button to enter the Chamber of the Fayth. This is where you will be able to encounter Yojimbo in his human form and negotiate to purchase his services.

Note: Facing east/west on the teleporter will take you to other small rooms with a Flexible Arm in the western room, and two X-Potions in the eastern room.

Haggling with Yojimbo

Final Fantasy 10 Tidus and Yuna meeting Yojimbo for the first time

In the Chamber of the Fayth, Yojimbo will ask what you want of him — choose "To defeat the most powerful of enemies." This will ensure that when you start haggling a fee with Yojimbo, that he will start at his lowest price.

Yojimbo will then ask you to pay 250,000 Gil for his services, but you want to haggle him down:

  • Offer 125,001 Gil.
  • Yojimbo will ask for 205,000 Gil.
  • Offer 112,501 Gil.
  • Yojimbo will ask for 202,500 Gil.
  • Offer 165,001 Gil.
  • Yojimbo will ask for 197,00 Gil.
  • This is likely as good as you're going to get, so take the deal and offer 197,000. (However, some players have claimed to have bargained him down to as little as 180,000. )
  • Should your deal fail, you can simply re-enter via the teleporter and try bargaining with him again.

Note: Regardless of whether you have haggled him down or not, if you offer triple of what he is asking for, he will give you two Teleport Spheres in addition to joining you.
